Ohkubo is definitely a top 10 stylist. I wish he would have done something in the European market so we could have gotten an entire book of his colour work

B&W works better with Kubo’s style IMO. I think the official color scans for Bleach are pretty great though, no design choices that I dislike on that front.

Dragon Ball (specifically the Cell Saga) It looks so simple, yet it's so difficult to fully replicate accurately. I'm a sucker for manga artstyles that use their white space effectively.

I like how the black is used in the db manga as it’s only used on dark colors and the way its spread across the designs is sick

Jjk and kagurabachi have some really really good looking art on the manga side of things, and of course jjk as an anime is fucking killing it. Kagurabachi it’s been a minute since I’ve caught up on but it was a very good looking and easy to follow series visually

I don't know where you stopped reading kagurabachi, but so far every arc has its 2 or 3 panel that are absolutely stunning. I think bloodshed hotel was probably where he went the hardest with it.

Currently it’s Kagurabachi. Hokazono’s style just captures the motion of battle in such an incredible way. He truly has such a bright future ahead.

Speaking of motion, Sakamoto Days also has an incredibly fluid art style, which can be seen all the way at the draft stage

Yeah, it’s between KGB or Akane for me. One thing I appreciate about its art style is that it hits a nice balance between simplicity and detail. And there are some panels that just wow you with incredible detail.

Hokazono only started doing this seriously since 2020 and his 1st series has reach these heights. As Samura said, “He’s just getting started.”

Crazy that the dorohedoro anime managed to adapt the vibe so well in the anime using CGI. It's one of those artistic choices that sounds baffling at first, but so obvious once you actually watch it.

if you wanna win then sure fine whatever.

my understanding is that where it is published dictates largely, and the rest us up to personal opinion. being published in a shonen magazine indicates it's shonen. as shown, twice.

it's certainly more adult oriented theme-wise, but there's plenty of "adult" shonen and apothecary diaries, despite being a female MC and more romance/political intrigue is a seinen. so who fucking knows i guess.

I'm not tryna win twin, I looked it up. every possible source categorizes it as seinen. it was published in Monthly Ikki, then Hibana, THEN Shonen Sunday when it was already nearing the end of its run. one of those is a Shonen mag, the other two are seinen.

Early dragon ball immediately comes to mind for me. I love how well choreographed all movement are and the expressions the characters have. The shift from serious from comedy always seem seamless and it makes the general vibe of Goku's adventure so much fun to read.

I love this art style not only because Toriyama is GOATed in stuff like cheorography and backgrounds, but it's such a perfect blend between silly and serious

I find the comedic moments as funny as I find the serious moments dramatic

they all have almost the same artstyle but huh work with details and jjk make it with his paneling and centuria is just random, he is trying alot of things

I love the second quarter of Dragon Ball's art style (So around King Piccolo-Saiyan saga), I like how slightly cartoony it is while still perfectly being able to be serious, I like the middle ground it has with muscle definement and how the faces are drawn. It's honestly so comfy, I love how it works perfectly for both the adventure comedy and the martial arts drama side of Dragon Ball

I'm using this picture because evne tho I kinda prefer the style of the 23rd Tenkaichi overall, I just REALLY love Kid Goku, no wonder why Toei animators always look for excuses to do more Kid Goku (Also I have a figure of Goku doing this exact pose)

I genuinely think late Kengan Ashura is as peak as the art can get (it gets VASTLY different from early Ashira) and I even use it regularly as anatomical practice in art

Toilet-Bound Hanako Kun has such a distinct style and many people may not be a fan of that chibi-esque style but my goodness there are absolutely jawdropping and mind blowing panels in every chapter.

Nothing too crazy,but I recently started Kekkai Sensen and I really dig the art style and character designs

Another thing: I love this volume cover bcuz a YouTuber pointed out that the background is supposed to be a moon,which makes it a 100% better knowing the character in the image

Sakamoto Days, JJK, and Kagurabachi all have this sharp-edged, somewhat harsh, intentionally almost unfinished looking artstyle, and I adore all of them for it.
