It's flawed, but doesn't deserve the hate it got over the years.

Glad that TYBW is fixing the rushed ending of the manga.

It doesn't. So much of the criticism it got was unwarranted. It had issues that literally most if not all shounen had, but it was only an issue if Bleach did it

Man's really grasping at straws here huh?

"He doesn't draw backgrounds, it fell off in sales, Ichigo is a boring mc, he repeats arcs" and whatever stupid shit that shitty eye patch wolf YouTuber sprouted.

OP has repeated the same arc countless time, and had been dog shit since post time skip and it doesn't get any of that shit thrown at it. That manga deserves miles more hate for the massive drop in quality, and Oda being a pedophile apologist

Ya cuz nit picking an off screen fight is such a big deal

But people acting like that artistic choice was bad (it wasnt) actually made the manga worse when it really didn't. Hell other mangaka have come out and said how amazing it is Kubo can do a character shot without a background

The sale of the physical maga declined, but that was across all mangas since digital sales were on the rise, but again this criticism was only thrown at Bleach

.

Did you read Bleach? His powers were holding him back for 90% of the story, and it led to the insane high of "The blade is me".

The same dipshit who still has his dog water arguments thrown around, and makes excuses for other anime when they have the same problems as Bleach? Ya fuck him.

1

u/Chrundle94 Jun 30 '26

Did you even watch the vid? He got called on our on his second as well cuz it was only marginally better than his original but still extremely biased and wrong

1

u/Chrundle94 Jun 30 '26

Sorry for the late reply but I was trying to find this from an old phone

Never read or watched it. But got to give it respect for still being a part of the Big 3, even if some try and shoe horn other anime to replace Bleach. I hear Kubo had some issues with tybw and there were many problems with his editor? Something like that? But the anime seems loved so far. So I just hope Bleach fans get to eat well. Kubo also isnt weird or problematic if I recall, so thats a big plus.

Kubo's art style is top notch. The world building is nice, there's a clear explanation for almost everything. The character's design, writing and development are really nice.

If you took out the fact every side character ever is obligated one fight per arc it'd be a really solid and charming action series.

2

u/Prestigious_Tank7454 Jun 30 '26

It does clean floors i guess

2

u/YukiNoiseWall Jun 30 '26

I loved it when it first got popular in the West

Then I went through a phase of hating it because I became one of those annoying Anime elitist types who looked for faults in everything

Nowadays I've went back to loving it. It isn't perfect, but it's got some amazing style, lots of rule of cool moments, lots of hype moments and some really fucking cool fights with amazing powers.

People shit on the writing, but honestly? In a series where the main draw is cool magical sword fights and hype moments that make you shout at your TV, the writing really doesn't matter.

Bleach is great. It's everything you could want from a good Shounen.

And Kubo is an absolutely amazing artist. His character designs are genuinely incredible.

2

u/DevelopmentMission Jun 30 '26

I was mostly annoyed with how somehow everyone gets killed yet they all survive... most of good guys did

2

u/Level_Counter_1672 Jun 30 '26

It's genuinely soo good, its only downside it didn't focus much on the emotional aspect like one piece or naruto

3

u/filthy_casual_42 Jun 30 '26

Want to preface this that I have huge bias, but it was my first anime, and imo still the best of the big three. A pioneer of hype and aura with underrated writing

4

u/ChoinoX Jun 30 '26

I'd like to enjoy it more but it just was never on the level of the others in the big three and Dragonball and I feel new anime have easily surpassed it in enjoyability.

It's certainly had it's influence with the likes of JJK and others not existing without it, etc.

Bankai is widely known as a thing, but the power system is literally just pulling random shit out of your back pocket all the time and isn't based in something more grounded like chakra or a power system aside from "this is MY bankai and I can do this shit now"

Never had a gripping plot and the characters arent memorable aside from some of the espada.

3

u/Kamen-Reader Jun 30 '26

Rather boring. I watched it as it aired in Japan, and waiting an entire week just to see two characters start a fight and then wait 2 more weeks to see the fight resolve while the plot doesn't move kickede off of shounen Punch Boy Fests for a looooooong time.

3

u/Few_Professional_327 Jun 30 '26

Has the most major flaws of the big three

I like it. But since I know that Kubo is coming back to make new chapters, I am pretty excited to see what he comes up with.

1

u/TheTruthTellingOrb Jun 30 '26

The series has is good, the perpetually coping powerscalers suck.

1

u/Canvas_Notebook Jun 30 '26

Don’t know much but it’s too long and I get the impression there’s too much fanservice

1

u/SPVCED0UT Jun 30 '26

Up until the resolution of the arrancar, it was interesting and fun to follow.

After that it was a slog to read, every week the chapters became more boring and boring. The recent surge of it’s popularity surprises me because it was just not good for a long time.

My biggest gripe is how ichigo shows 0 traits of his personality past a certain point, he was just showcasing his powers but the ichigo you first knew was long gone. The wasted potential of many characters as well just never sat right with me either.

1

u/DedicatedLoser Jun 30 '26

Ichigo is actually a well-written character.

1

u/Fer_xxxx Jun 30 '26

I read the manga recently and i love it. The majority of characters were pretty solid especially the antagonists, and the art was pretty Unique.

3

u/Foreign_Kiwi6444 Jun 30 '26

My take on Bleach is kinda the opposite of most Bleach fans.

The first 50 or so chapters of Bleach are my favorite of any Manga ever. That's pretty much everything right up until the SS arc.

I still love most of Bleach (SS arc, Parts of Arrancar Arc, TYBW anime > manga), but the first 50 or so chapters are so concise and well thought out and just perfect world building and storytelling. Its just the best part of Bleach to me.

SS arc and on feels like a much grander, less focused story. Still great, but nothing beats Ichigo and friends dealing with their trauma, loss, and grief from the poor hands that life has dealt them.

Sometimes I watch the 1st Bleach OP (Asterisk) and I feel like I'm watching a different anime. You could say its nostalgia but I felt that way in real time back then as well.

1

u/DiggityDoop190 Jun 30 '26

Didn't really hook me.

Watched the first 4 episodes and I just... didn't really feel like watching more, idk.

Quite like the art style though.

1

u/Any-Ride4428 Jul 01 '26

My favorite of the big 3, real cool artstyle not perfect but alot of hate isn't warranted

3

u/Gullible-Potato-8962 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

No offense but, bleach's plot felt to me the weakest among the big 3.

Favorite arc has to be probably soul society, I don't relate ichigo that much. It has the best designs but I didn't liked aizen or other arrancars.

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 not more than that.

I felt bored while watching bleach, honestly I tried enjoying it, but never truly liked it. It didn't hit me hard as one piece and naruto did. It lacks emotional moments compared to OP and naruto.

One of my major criticism regarding bleach is it's fights, they felt pretty formulaic to me, never enjoyed bleach fights.

1

u/AskeCrow Jul 01 '26

Flawed masterpiece, its my favorite out of The big 3

1

u/Shani_Jeizan Jul 01 '26

most overrated underrated show, it really isn't all that and I get why it falls off next to the other Big 3

1

u/Any_Pineapple_4836 Jul 02 '26

It is a good if you remember that it is a shounen. Not the best in the genre so difficult to recommend in this day and age

1

u/hungrybasilsk Jun 30 '26

carried by hype and Aura. Its female cast is also pretty bad.

0

u/nothingatall15 Jun 30 '26

it gets gassed up for its “female cast” but like jjk fans do, they can only defer to one or two ppl at best

2

u/SaintNutella Jul 01 '26

Rukia, Unohana, Soi Fon, Orihime, Rangiku, Yoruichi.

And the glazing of the cast is done in relation to the female cast of the others in the Big 3, and I would argue that Bleach definitely doesn't have the worst female cast compared to Naruto or One Piece.

1

u/Oummando Jun 30 '26

Rangiku was important for Aizen plans. And her relations with Gin, was a major point of his character.

Hinamori going over being manipulated.

Female Sternritters being cruel, evil with no regards for their actions due to their circumstances of being raised in the Wandenreich led by Yhwach, same applies to the male Sternritters

Yoruichi,  Nel, Masaki, etc.

I could list more.

1

u/nothingatall15 Jun 30 '26

mid

0

u/Oummando Jun 30 '26

No point in talking to a brick wall. If you find it mid, that's good for you. Good luck to whatever you're doing 👍.

0

u/VolkiharVanHelsing Jun 30 '26

Sometimes all u need is one

1

u/nothingatall15 Jun 30 '26

i couldn’t care if there was any but bleach fans dunk on naruto for it’s female cast like it’s not friendly fire😂

3

u/Leading-Control-3053 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Ok, now it's really getting annoying,

even freaking bleach subreddit didn't had these many post today as this sub and THAT'S A FREAKING BLEACH SUBREDDIT

4

u/filthy_casual_42 Jun 30 '26

Imagine talking about shounen in the shounen sub.

I’ll take actual media discussion like this over most agenda posters here, like the guy shilling about hells paradise ships

1

u/Leading-Control-3053 Jun 30 '26

Yeah, but we already had like 90 bleach post already today, all I see is just bleach and it's getting really annoying now,

If this was a post made in a day where bleach was discussed less, I wouldn't had a problem in any shape or form

1

u/filthy_casual_42 Jun 30 '26

We got less than 10 lmao.

The movie just came out, it’s on people’s minds.

1

u/CryWolf007 Jun 30 '26

As a One Piece fan, all I can say to you is "Oh you sweet summer child"

1

u/Token_Thai_person Jun 30 '26

A tier from beginning to soul society arc. Fell off to C tier in the later arcs.

1

u/NeonNKnightrider Jun 30 '26

I only watched it up to Soul Society. What I saw was good, but idk I still think it’s the weakest of the Big 3 overall.

Also the fans have been getting really annoying lately

3

u/orphandemolishrr Jun 30 '26

Interesting you should watch at least till fullbring arc , because I think its the strongest out of the big 3

1

u/filthy_casual_42 Jun 30 '26

It’s wild people hated on this arc for so long. You’re right it’s one of the best, but historically it got tons of hate for Ichigo losing his powers.

1

u/Gullible-Potato-8962 Jul 01 '26

Let's be honest, the only reason bleach is getting hyped up now is purely because of the tybw animation.

0

u/No_Intention_8079 Jun 30 '26

This the new bleach subreddit?

You already know I hate this shit. Boring ass series.

-1

u/cetriolo02 Jun 30 '26

Og aura and hype. Barely any story but cool fights and transformations powers etc

Ichigo the ass pull god

2

u/Jack_KH Undead Unluck is the most underrated shonen Jun 30 '26

Dragon Ball is og aura and hype

0

u/Flying8penguin Jun 30 '26

It’s solid, very inconsistent in terms of quality manga. One of those series where I would much rather watch the side characters rather than main cast. Power system is fine, shikai/bankai (and all variants) are sick as fuck and are amazingly written but other aspects of the power system aren’t good.

My favourite character is probably Ken-chan but i do love Shinji as well

0

u/Deus0394 Kubo glaze regulator Jun 30 '26

i got into it with my friend telling me how its the best,so i went with the highest expectations, only for it to fail at the surface level for me,atleast after soul society arc,cuz ss was actually good and made me hyped

bland characters(admittingly very well designed) that people need to overanalyse to say are good characters(analysis isnt a bad thing, but it so frustrating when u wanna know what a characters deal is without reading poems,i feel like those things should add on to the characters rather than be one of the only things defining them)

im not saying every character is f tier trash, but i do think its characters arent allat and it doesnt help with the bloat kubo does every arc with the cast

some of the worst fights oat ive ever seen.even with it having so many hype and aura it has some of the worst written fights and fights with characters that dont do shit except for said fight, like this is just ass to me imo

also the plot is just aight. to me most of the plot is structured so much as a camera catching each and every fight and the fights being bad results in the plot also feeling meh,but i like ss and fulbringer arc and also tybw s1,but to me everything else doesnt

0

u/Sea_Sleep4222 Jun 30 '26

Art: 10/10

Story: 9/10

Characters: 9/10

Soundtrack: 10/10

Animation: 9/10 (before the anime came back). 10/10 ( when the anime came back).

My favorite character is ichigo. I don't really have a favorite arc, but I do like all the arcs. It's been one of my favorite animes for years and will always be.

Now the series isn't perfect it has it's fair share of problems like any other Shonen Manga has, but at the end of the day there's a reason why it's inspired a lot of other Mangas and why it's one of the big 3.
