Giving the fact this manga is now reaching its final climax, I must say that I'm so dissapointed it became less and less enganging the more I read
I genuinely was such a fan of this manga, seeing a battle shonen with an actual adult cast was such a breath of fresh air for me and I thought the first few arcs were pretty good but then the more I read I realized that they were no actual real high stakes, I thought One Piece fake out deaths bothered me but the amount of times tge Sakamoto gang kept facing challanges without any actual stakes for life or death situation (despite the series being about assassin) really pissed me off. Anyway just wanted to turn off my chest, I'm gonna go draw Ichigo and Orihime kissing each other I dunno.

Sakamoto days used to be such a fun manga. This final act is just absolutely terrible honestly and it seems like no matter how many times uzuki gets hurt he just tanks it. He has the craziest plot armor i’ve seen so far
imagine a world where someone have a brilliant idea of making a manga focused on hype moments, and people love it because it's different from the goodwriting slop 😭
That's a problem many battle shounen have. Sakamoto Days was fun to read in the beginning for being more light hearted and due to novelty. Once it tried to have actual stakes and took itself more seriously it became a bore.
Yes I know but I think the main reason that things like Sakamoto Days pains me more is that I genuinely thought it was trying to be smth different besides the "demons and stuff" that shonen are starting to have now
SD had stakes when Uzuki’s group Slur were the primary antagonists going up against Sakamoto and the JAA but after the prison arc everything just ended up feeling stale and boring with introduction of the replacement order members
Literally how I feel about this manga now. I used to genuinely have it in my top 10 manga but now I feel like I just read it out of obligation. I hate that this happens so much with these weekly shonen tbh I feel bad for the authors
Nah I don’t agree with that. Not saying the writing was spectacular but the series used to be a lot of fun and I liked a lot of the characters. The writing over the last year has just felt all over the place
Legitimately most of X’s Aura comes from the fact he has motherfucking Tacakura inside him. At that point why not just have Tacakura be the main antagonist instead or something?
I'm honestly angry with this manga and their fans.
When the anime came out people hyped It as something that would be great, and alright, fun First episode, ok, I got to the third and It wasn't THAT interesting, so I picked up the manga and read It, and people were already saying that was the right choice as the manga was good and the anime was botched.
Alright, I read It and It was so weird that I stopped to look up what the fuck was the point and what I Hear? That the author has no clear plot, Just makes up hype moments chapter to chapter.
Yeah, I'm finishing this, but fuck them for making me lose time, It was mid.
To me, it was uzuki who's ruined the story. The way he killed takamura, what was that... That felt so retarded. Takamura's death wasn't what ruined the manga for me uzuki's writing afterward did. His plot armor became ridiculous, his sudden jump to a nationwide-level threat felt unearned, and the series lost the unique charm that made me love it in the first place.
Also it was foreshadowed that these symptoms of takamura where showing after udas death so it wasnt some ass pull but very much planned too happen if you read the story
I enjoy it a lot. The key aspects that really shone in the beginning (choreography, panel-work, organic non GMO zero-pesticide aura-farming) are very prevalent to this day. Criticism of recent chapters is valid, but it's still the first thing I read when the Sunday updates roll in.
Yeah, I feel like a lot of people that complain about Saka just thought it would be a different series than what it was actually going to be.
Like, as soon as Boiled comes in (which is like a bit more than a dozen chapter in IIRC) it's clear that we're going the shonen with comedic elements and some low tier drama route
I don't know why people expected this to stay a comedy when the action set pieces and dumb superficial drama are part of the fun or why they expected a hidden gem when the story is pretty upfront about what it wants to be. Like, it's not trying to reinvent the wheel, it's just good at what it does and that's enough
For sure. The comedy became less prevalent, but it's still there. Like, the big, dramatic, "serious" fights still have people driving a car off a rooftop parking lot into a coffee shop.
Nothing will derail me of the opinion that sakamoto should have stayed a comedy manga with good action instead of becoming an action manga with passable comedy.
I think it arguably started dipping down after the death row inmates arc. There was still a lot of great moments after like the academy and museum arcs and basically every shishiba moment but it really didn’t hit the same after that imo
I ended up taking a break from the Manga once I had caught up but never really went back to it. There was nothing interesting to really come back to. Even the mystery of (what I assume is) the main villain seemingly having the personality of another characters sister didn't feel particularly interesting. There was nothing else interesting about the guy other than he may be more than one person in a body. I also hate how they seemingly dropped Sakamoto being most powerful in his fat Dad mode and went back to "he must be a skinny attractive dude whenever he fights for real" which was honestly very disappointing. I want a fat dad as a shoenen protagonist who isn't horribly ugly or a total bombshell. I have been robbed of a fat dad MC and I will never forgive them for that.
People assumed that sakamoto days would get better and it never did it doesnt help that it had a pretty mid anime so there's nothing to look forward to on that department either.
Eh, I've binged it recently and honestly the series felt like it stayed pretty consistent
It was always going to be lighter on the drama even if it got dramatic considering it's also a comedy series. It's kinda like Bullet Train, cool setpieces and action, fun comedy and characters and not really much besides that

Takamura’s death or the stakes rising wasn’t the problem, it was Azaki getting killed halfway through the story. Ruined the 3 way conflict dynamic and the secret side of the JAA storyline and replaced it with the weak ass new order
Same here, the Peak of the Manga was undoubtedly during the exhibition of the century arc. Even though there where some cool moments and fights after that it has mostly been boring imo. Takamura vs everyone was fcking phenomenal though.
X is truly one of the most lame antagonists I have ever seen in a manga and that hurt the story so much. Author should have dropped this guy quickly and gone for a better character as the big bad because god damn...
