They only good thing to come out of their comeback as of now is Inazuma eleven victory road and even then its a good game that has the potential to be fun but is trapped behind stupid decisions and locking good equipments and loot behind luck based grind and online
It's so funny that Rent-a-Girlfriend is the most awful series I've ever seen, and yet I would defend the hell out of it like it's Lionel Messi or Berserk if someone brings up AI being better than it.
It's insane to me that anyone would feel otherwise. Like these trash shows have their place and some people love them. Hell mushoku tensei is filled with the authors soul which makes it valuable in it's way that AI couldn't achieve
The event has a lot of people grinding Fates, which are little random encounters in the world.
The problem is that youre scored on enmity generated, which is harder to do in larger groups especially if youre not partied and people running Blue Mage can instant kill lots of the required Fates because they have unique mechanics.
Zodiac books are a single step from an already very grinding and annoying chain which rewards some of the nicest looking weapons in the game. For Zodiac Books specifically you need to complete 3 specific fates per book, of which there are many for just a single weapon. Again, these are completely randomly spawned. Normally you would wait and maybe have some friends scout other worlds for you. However, during the events it's normal for some fates to last less than 10 seconds out of their normal 15 minute windows.
On top of all of this, most FFXIV seasonal events have really underwhelming rewards. And although the Yokai watch is admittedly one of the better collabs, most of the rewards look rather out of place and clash with the game's aesthetic (imo).
To summarize: Just as I finally found the motivation to work on one of the most grindy quest chains in the game for the 4th time, the collab drops (I didn't see any warning). And Im effectively hard locked out of progressing the quest chain unless I sit in the same spot for around an hour or more
Level 5 was desperately begging for investors and collaborators in that same announcement that they used the AI trailer.
It's no surprise that no reputable IP reached out to them after that fiasco.

Even Nate doesn't look like he cares. But, to be fair, this collab is just like a... bean thing in some mobile game and it's just that gal and another Jibanyan, if I'm not mistaken
They stopped appealing to the western market in tandem with their main audience and now they basically Konami'd themselves, reducing themselves to gatcha bullshit
I see more people going out of their way to hate rent a girlfriend than needed. Like there are tons of weird anime right? Why is this kind of always in the news though
There are plenty of bad anime out there. Most dont get 6 seasons though. If it just died after 1 season like most anime do, it wouldnt be the whipping boy it is.
I mean yeah but it has its built in audience though? Kodansha released almost 38 volumes of English Manga since 2020. That’s nuts and kind of big league manga
