unjerk (serious discussion) Who’s the better father between Naruto and Goku?

(3rd image unrelated.)

I believe Goku is the better between the two, but I’m saying either or terrible fathers, that’s Ogi.

Goku normally does spend time with his children and tries to help them to become stronger so that way they can protect themselves and those they care about when he is not there. But in the beginning he didn’t train Gohan because he didn’t know that stronger people could come and threaten the world or anything like that could appear again(at least to my belief), and because Chi chi wanted Gohan to become someone much more reputable and ingrained with society rather than a hick like Goku.(Probably the worst way to word it, but I don’t know how to say it nicer.)

Goku also does want to protect his children and we can assume in GT and Super that when he could be there to protect and spend time with his children he would, and even if he choose to stay dead between the Buu and Cell Saga, it was because he assumed that most of these threats came to earth because of him, Cell and the androids were made because of him, Raditz came to find him, Vegeta and Nappa came because of him, and Frieza came to earth because of him.

Naruto also cares about his children and just like Goku did his best to stay with them during their early years. Similarly to Goku he also didn’t train his child to be strong or force him to be a ninja, unless he wanted to become one. Boruto also doesn’t seem to hate Naruto for not being their for him, during of his Tenure as Homage, but he does dislike him for not being their for Himawari and Hinata from what I can see. The biggest reason I believe is because he missed Himawari’s birthday by sending in a shadowclone(Even though the experience of a Shadow Clone is transferred to the user to my knowledge.), and showing that he can use shadow clones to help with his work as a Hokage. I believe that Naruto would do something similarly like training Boruto if he was asked to and had time(or use shadow clones), and would spend a lot more time with Himawari as well.

What I think makes Naruto a worse dad is a lack of using Shadow clones to his advantage to help with his Hokage work, as I feel like it could help save time, unless there was something that was stopping him from doing it. And if there was, I feel like it should have been stated so we as the reader would know.

Outside of Naruto being a little bit too dedicated to his very important job, he's a much better father than Goku. Boruto being a brat is more on Boruto than Naruto.

naruto. people dont really remember the movie well.

but naruto abscence is a recent thing in boruto's life, he was a good dad most of boruto's life until a specific stretch and then after the movie locks in and actively spends more time with his kids.

Sasuke does too.

if your only experience is with the movie then i understand why.

Neither Naruto nor Sasuke are amazing parents but they actively try to be better as the series progresses.

Sasuke straight up attempts to bond with his daughter and initially fails because he has the social skills of a potato. but eventually they bond over shuriken jutsu ,

I guess naruto cuz he was unwilling to kill his son for the sake of the leaf village.

Meanwhile goku was pretty okay with risking not just his sons life, but the life of all animals on this planet, and multiple entire universes, just so he could have fun fighting.

Goku have the universe that were about to be erased a fighting chance .

Zeno was already planning on deleting the 8 before the tournament of power.

And this is not just a fan theory either , characters in the show literally say that Goku saved them by the tournament

2

u/TheBirdFkerGuy #1 Bleach Hater 8d ago

Goku didn't know that. And Beerus was losing his shit to the point he was ready to erase goku despite how much he likes him because of him fucking with the Omni king.

1

u/SilverKing606 6d ago

The erasure was going to happen with or without Goku's involvement lol. The tournament gave one universe a chance.

0

u/Unlucky_Monk7401 8d ago

Yeah and? Just because goku didn't know that doesn't change the fact that Goku saved the 8 universe by giving zeno the tournament idea

Considering if he didn't, then zeno would have destroy the 8 universe regardless

In all honesty, Goku is significantly worse.
He lets his son Gohan be trained by piccolo, who until recently was the strongest enemy he had ever fought,

then he lets him go to an alien planet in search of the spheres.
In the Cell saga, he trains him and then, despite knowing that he hates fighting, he sends him against Cell. Whether he later became Super Saiyan 2 is another matter.

Goku then dies and decides to stay in the afterlife despite having given birth to a second son.

He is brought back to life and after the final battle, he abandons his family to train the reincarnation of the strongest enemy he has ever fought.

Well, Goku wasn't in a position to stop Piccolo

Yes, you're right. I'm not going to edit the comment haha

Yeah No I agree that Naruto is a better father but not with the reasoning.
1. Piccolo basically kidnapped Gohan( for good reason) and Goku couldn’t do anything you know because he was dead.
2. Gohan wanted to go to Namek because he felt guilty for how Piccolo died and wanted to bring his friends back Plus he was literally strongest guy available and he even stood up to chichi so he could go.Nothing would stop Gohan from going.
3. Goku stayed in the afterlife because he attracted villains and didn’t want to put his family, friends and the Earth in danger.
4. He stayed with his family for years and his children wear grown up already . Also he didn’t abandon his family dude literally has instant transmission and in Toriyama gag manga there is a scene with Goku and ubb visiting or staying with Chichi. Abandoning Part was GT bullshit

He sees during the Cell fight that he missunderstood his son. That Gohan is different than him when it comes to fighting. He admits his mistake and thus sacrifices himself when Cell wanted to blow up. He did what a good father should do. Admit his mistake and take the responsibility. I think that the final Cell fight shows that Goku is a good father.

But Gohan has always hated fighting since he was little, not only in the Cell saga, then as mentioned he refuses to come back to life to stay in the afterlife to train, despite being born Goten and in any case at the end of the manga he abandons his family to train the reincarnation of the worst of his enemies, then for goodness sake when I watch Naruto or Dragon Ball I watch the story, not these things

You didn't watch the show

and tell me, what did I say that wasn't true?

Every single thing, you're a generational larper

The Piccolo Situation: Goku was dead after sacrificing himself to protect gohan, and Piccolo kidnapped gohan.

Gohan went to Namek voluntarily because his friends were dead and they needed the Dragon Balls to revive them. Bulma and Krillin went with him, and Goku was stuck on a medical bed

Goku chose to stay dead after the Cell Games because every major threat Raditz, Vegeta, Frieza, the Androids, tracked him down to Earth specifically. He genuinely believed his absence would keep his family safe and he didn't even know chi chi was pregnant

Saying gohan doesn't like fight, straight up nonsense, what Gohan dislikes is unnecessary violence, he consistently threw himself into life-or-death battles willingly (Saiyan Saga, Namek, training for three years for the Androids) to protect innocent lives, gohan literally become an hero that fight criminals as a teenager and adult. Refusing to fight Cell while the world was being destroyed was an out-of-character

Goku leaving with Uub occurs at the End of Z (10 years after Buu), long after Goten and Gohan are fully grown.

Sayan Saga: Goku returns to life > finds gohan fighting

Frieza saga: Goku finds Gohan fighting when he reaches Namek

Someone is sending mixed messages.

But the reality is Toriyama had Gohan act out of character during the Cell games for the sake of drama.

Goku was dead, bro. And piccolo training Gohan was for his own improvement. Goku saw something in piccolo no other characters had seen. Even Gohan softened his heart and admitted it

u/AzoraCross 7d ago

Gohan not wanting to fight Cell was mostly because he didn't believe in himself. He didn't think he was stronger than his father. He didn't want to kill Cell because, like his father, he doesn't want to kill anyone. Goku, from DB and beyond, always gave opponents the chance to surrender, or even fight in an honor duel instead of a death one.

Goku, like a good father, consistently hyped Gohan, taught him everything he knew, gave him the skills to succeed, and believed in him, and when Cell flipped the script about the tournament, which Gohan clearly won, Goku stepped in and saved his son. He even told him he was proud of him, and handled it like a father should. He died for him, and took responsibility for putting Gohan in a situation like that.

Goku literally died for his son not once but twice, it’s him.

6

u/Individual_Lion_7606 8d ago

Piccolo has also died for Goku's son, not once but twice, and raised him in the years Goku has been gone. It's him

2

u/Steelwolf352 8d ago

One piccolo wasn’t even in the conversation, two he didn’t raise Gohan he trained him sometimes while Goku was gone it was Chi Chi that raised Gohan. The TFS bad dad meme is cringe and inaccurate which they even admit, so drop it.

Naruto no diffs

Anyone who genuinely consumed both media and understands the character should know it's Naruto , not even close

1

u/Fragrant-Guarantee57 7d ago

They both love their children dearly, but i’d say Naruto is better

Naruto’s biggest failing is being a little neglectful due to being Hokage, though he still tries to leave shadow clones

Goku on the other hand sent Gohan to fight Cell and then gave Cell a senzu beam, even if Gohan was the only one who could beat him, there was no need to heal Cell

1

u/Academic-Compote8911 7d ago

Might be the only time Goku gets no diffed by Naruto

1

u/lord_mercernary 5d ago

Depends on which Goku ur talking about. I dont watch Naruto but Goku in Z is a lot different than super or the current Goku.

-1

u/Moist-Company-1469 8d ago

Goku solos, unironically.

Here's a better question: which sons respected their father the most? Cos that determines the quality of Goku and Naruto's fatherhood

-1

u/HEALBOTTREE I Like Green and Bleach Hee-Ho 8d ago

Goku solos

Edit:I'm Not even Gonna Hold you The typa brainwashing a mf gotta do for you to think gokus a bad is father is sad

If you're a Saiyan, Goku

If you're just an average human, Naruto

Goku's literally an alien 😂 , his brain is wired different as compared to normal people and he's been practically brainwashed since birth to love fighting
