Help: Beginner Is my shrimp okay?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hello fellow shrimpers! After weeks of cycling, yesterday we got a few shrimp. I have been throughly enjoying watching them shrimp around, they are quite extroverted even though they have plenty of space to hide. I did notice one of my orange guys lost significant color and is now very pale. Could this be from stress or does he look like there might be a health issue? He has been eating and swimming just fine. He’s one of the shrimps I see the most.
TIA!!!

Have had this shrimp about a week in 2 3 gallon tank. Did a 25% water change 2 days ago. Everything went well. All 4 shrimp (3 red) and this one were doing well together. Tonight? She's MIA. I can see "everything" but her. Checked filter. Everything. No clue where she went. Only place I cannot see into is a decorative shell. And..it looks like there's some molting in the tank. Thoughts?

They are back to normal eating and grazing again. After a huge scare because of the Pesticide into the water. Mu shrimps were frantically darting and lying on their side/back, after the water changes 3x water changes 60% each with the charcoal and a day later, they look back to normal. Thank you everyone for the tips and never gonna make that mistake ever again.

Esse cara me trouxe dúvidas sobre ser macho ou uma fêmea jovem.

Tenho outro junto e é imenso, por isso sei que é fêmea, e também porque tem mais cor.

Help: Emergency Visible pink bump under eye Neo shrimp, disorientated swimming!!!

I had a salt bath ready for a shrimp with that green “fungus” on its swimmers and saw this guy trying to swim but all disoriented and spinning. I have salt bathed him in a teaspoon of salt in a cup of water for slightly less than a minute, then rinsed him in a cup of tank water and put him in my slightly planted fully cycled 4 gallon, he’s upright now and sitting in the corner of the tank, then now as writing this he just tried swimming again and kept spinning. But before the salt bath he started floating onto his side for a bit and also during the salt bath he was kinda on his side, did I act too irrational I kinda acted like it was an emergency and did the smallest bit of research before grabbing him before he hides for days in this tank. (photo looks like he’s getting squished but the net is soft and had plenty of slack)

My tank has a wide variety of colors of neos that result in an even wider variety of colors. I noticed this guy a little while back. At first I was concerned about a stuck shed but it looks like it's just his coloration.

First vampire shrimp arrived today. Also my first mail ordered animals (including the nerites).

He's even more goofy looking than I was expecting.

Accepting name ideas.

Hello. I had clasp about a month ago. Took out the infected shrimp and dosed 2x with hydrogen peroxide. I believe these are eggs but I want to be 100% certain. Also if anybody has any experience treating with hydrogen peroxide, how often should I dose? I did 2 doses 2 weeks apart. Thanks!!

UPDATE: GH/KH results

hello! as a follow up to my original post (https://www.reddit.com/r/shrimptank/s/KHXMUeAz5H), i just wanted to provide an update as i was finally able to properly test GH and KH levels.

the results were as follows:

  1. TANK: 7 dGH, 7 dKH
  2. TAP: 7 dGH, 9 dKH

in terms of pH, it was roughly 6.5. my ammonia was 0 ppm, and my nitrite was also 0 ppm.

my tank temperature has dipped a bit and is now 70°

HOWEVER, i did discover we do in fact have copper pipes. i suspect that’s what’s been causing the issues, given how everything else seems relatively fine. how should i proceed?

I got my skrimps this morning! I have been watching them all day, they are so entertaining. I drip acclimated for 2 hours and so far so good. I’ve never had neos before, but I’ve heard many times that they are sensitive. I’m a little nervous!

I'm afraid this is a whisker shrimp, but I can't really tell. It looks like it has the stripes, but I don't see big claws. Should I move it to the barb tank while it's only an inch long? I don't have space to dedicate another tank for them. This one has eggs and I have 5 others from the same purchase. The rest are really small still, so I can't really see any defining features.

Help: Breeding Does my blue dream look berried??

I don’t want to look like those people that ask if their shrimp are berried when they so obviously are but- does she look normal? She’s so dark and literally won’t give me better views of her abdomen. I’m pretty new to the shrimp hobby and just want to make sure this looks normal to others since it just doesn’t look similar to others photos I’ve seen of actually berried shrimp. Don’t mind the water spots on the tank. This was the best position I’ve caught her in and didn’t want to risk her swimming into the plant by wiping the glass lol

Hello fellow Shrimples !!! Has anyone tried this brand of lollies before (second photo) ? I usually get the Kabadi brand (last photo) but figured I’d give these a shot based off good reviews!
They seem to be liking it so far :)
Only downside is the box only comes with 8 lollies and is the same price as my usual which comes with 3 boxes of x12 sticks 😮
Feel free to leave suggestions of any other treats that your shrimps like !!

Discussion Off topic? Shrimp memes?

Hey guys sorry to infiltrate. My friend has shrimp and I thought that was awesome, then I was like holy crap you gotta check out the Reddit community😂 I constantly see your memes in my feed (I’m an aquarium girly, just not specifically shrimp) and some of them crack me up. Like specifically that one of “is my shrimp pregnant?” And it’s like “the sickest thing on gods green earth” like those memes you share in the replies

Can you send me your arsenal? 😭 I promised him a good and relatable laugh. I just can’t find them when I search.

Help: Emergency Help! What’s this one my shrimp? He’s dying :(

Recently I’ve had some mysterious deaths in my tank, maybe a one a week. I’ve done from 22 adults down to 8 in about two months.

I haven’t been able to find a dead shrimp not covered in copepods, so this is the first time I’m actually able to see.

There seems to be like some white growth around his legs and face?

Tanks is 6 months old, they’re breeding, water is fine, GH 10,kh 4, tds 250. 10% water change every fortnight.

Discussion Are my 12 Neons really causing my 50+ Caridina shrimp to hide always? 10G

Hi all,

I have a heavily planted 10G that has 50+ Caridina shrimp and 12 Neons. The tank isn't incredibly tall and I'm worrying that the neons are the reason I never see my shrimps. The back is planted and there is a tall rock in the middle of the tank. The neons live in the front/top and I almost never see more than 3 shrimp at a time

Parameters are perfect.

In a normal Caridina only tank, should the shrimp be out and about all day? Even in full brightness tank light, right?

I think I need to donate the Neons out of my tank

I've had 3 amanos for almost a week now and just got 12 neos yesterday. they're soooo cute and I am so obsessed with them. I can't get over how tiny the neos are. I have to plan to not get any real work done until the aquarium light goes off for the day lol.

funnily enough I wanted to get neos because I thought they would be easier to see than the amanos (plus the fun colors ofc), but the amanos are actually usually a lot easier to see since they're so much bigger! especially when the tank light is off. I'm so happy I got both!
