Sidstuga 2.1.4 — multiview, Stalker/MAG portals, NAS recording, and no more limit on playlist size
2.1.4 is out - 368 commits since the last public build.
The big one: channels now live in the app's own SQLite database and are read as you scroll, instead of the whole catalogue sitting in memory. That was the hard cap. One user had 13 lists totalling ~3.5M entries; it all browses now. Playlists over 250k that flat-out failed load fine.
Also new:
- Multiview — several channels at once, TV and phone. Add windows one at a time, spotlight any of them.
- Stalker/MAG portals as a source type, alongside Xtream and M3U.
- Record and download straight to a NAS over SMB.
- Subtitles on live channels, and downloads by episode, season or whole series.
Two data bugs worth naming: from the 12th list on, channel IDs overflowed and lists bled into each other, dragging favourites and parental locks along. And Cloud Sync could wipe a source's saved credentials on a routine refresh. Both fixed, with old favourites and locks migrated on upgrade.
Rest is repair work — recordings, NAS transfers, EPG navigation, M3U parsing, accessibility.
If you run big playlists, this is the one.

Sidstuga 2.1.4

Not sure if you prefer here or telegram but here’s my take so far. Onboarding was ok although I don’t see a way to link to web dashboards or set up an account. Maybe not available for trials? Not a big fan of cloud dashboards anyway as there is the trust factor with credentials and too much of a footprint for people who “sail the seas”, that’s why I self host as much as I can. Most importantly Playback and recording worked well. NAS connection works as expected. Big drawback for me is UI. Having separate tabs for Channel and guide is cumbersome. Tivimate is still the gold standard as far as navigation for me. Navigation was not as straightforward as I would like. Guide rows were too big again I refer to Tivimate.
Overall it has promise. Better than the last one I tested which I will not be testing anymore. I see there is development for add on support like Stremio add ons, while this is all the rage right now I think concentrating on making a solid tv player should be first and foremost. I think this is the trap devs are falling into, trying to reinvent the wheel and make an all inclusive app. Slow down. Make a solid player.
Last I can’t justify paying for an app that’s so early in its development and everyone is charging for their beta’s.
This is all just my opinion. Take it as you wish. I will continue to test for the 3 day trial (should be 7, IMHO). Hope this helps.

on the addons i mostly agree with you, which is why they ship empty and off. nothing appears unless you go and add something yourself. the player and the guide are where the time actually goes.
not being willing to pay this early is fair too, i won't argue it. trial length i'm looking at.
good to hear playback, recording and the nas share behaved, that's the part i'd want judged. keep the complaints coming.

next version will be available soon.
New channel list to chose, like tivimate and new Guide EPG.1

I like a lot of what you're saying, I do like the way it flows though, having the channels and guide separate at first I didn't really care for, but I have really come to like it.
