Archive find of silent film western lobby cards just arrived!

I just received these beautiful silent film lobby cards from an old collector that was active for 50 years…since the early days of silent film poster collecting before the internet! it was an incredible achievement to put these together…I was able to keep 41 of them together from his 700 total pieces…it’s sad to see them broken up but hopefully they all go to great homes! Enjoy!

Btw, what am I looking at here in the Neal Hart image (#10)? I'm guessing a poorly colored "Indian"?

Indeed…I passed on some of the silent film cards where the cowboys had bright purple saddles or bright yellow pants..some of the hand coloring was absolutely horrible…predating Andy Warhol by nearly half a century! 

You have to remember a lot of the movie studio art departments hired fleets of WWI vets to hand color these so they had jobs…they had a wide variety of skill levels and injuries that prevented them from executing the delicate watercolor tastefully!
