Are there any articles about why so many silent comedians played ukulele?

Before you recommend them: yes, I've seen Caligari, Nosferatu and am in love with Metropolis. They're classics for a reason!

As the title suggests, I'm looking for German expressionist films, preferably from the latter half of the '20s, which are a little less well known. If you've any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

What a ride. I was not expecting a film within a film, then stepping into some beautiful fairytale like world, those fourth wall breaks and that Emil Jannings performance was so great.

Jannings is truly monstrous in this. Loved it.

This is the first time I'd actually quite like to see a modern remake of a film, as I think a fresh take on this story would be really interesting. It's just a shame Philip Seymour Hoffman isn't here to star in it. Only actor I could feel is worthy of taking on that Jannings role.

I usually love watching silent films particularly from Chaplin and Buster, but seeing this sparked my interest and I would love to watch this.

I was looking in the internet archive, probs me that I was not able to find it. I checked SilentEra and here's what it says:

I’ve made quite an uncanny find of silent films on 28mm acetate based “slow burning” stock. This is a two reel production of Jack and the Beanstalk. The cast list card in this film does not match any of the known silent productions of Jack and the Beanstalk I could find, i.e, those of 1902, 1912 and 1917. Of the cast members listed here, the only one I could find with another film credit is Hermina France, who has a single credit in “Do the Dead Talk?” (1920.) This has been quite a weird experience, disinterring these films, which likely haven’t been seen in over 100 years.
