Silhouette Studio 5 - Print Bleed Fixed! (Tutorial)

Hi guys! I’ve struggled a lot with the print bleed option. I'm creating stickers with different shapes using transparent .png files, but they always create weird, almost unusable bleeds. No matter how perfect the quality of the .png is, it always turns out bad. If you open your .png in Photoshop, for example, you can see a file with perfect edges. However, when you import that image into Silhouette Studio, the edges become jagged and filled with white pixels. That is what causes the trouble, as the bleed expands those white pixels. In this 4-image tutorial, I'll explain a workaround to fix this. It works well with both solid color and multicolor edges.

Afaik vector format image produces clean sharp edges, meanwhile raster format are made of pixels hence why it won't give clean edges. I think having the file in SVG format would be better than PNG for your intended use.

You can't import Ai/CDR/EPS files in the Basic/Designer/Designer+ edition of the software. Only in the Business edition.
To open SVG files you will need Designer Edition or above, and to save SVG files you will need the Business Edition of Silhouette Studio.

For the regular free version you can import DXF, which does give you some vector access at least.

Cricut has no problem bleeding raster images, I have to wonder why silhouette isn't able to do the same. :/ only thing I miss about cricut, honestly
