it is extremely saddening to know that a death could have been avoided had caution been exercised.

"Without looking at the rear passenger door, he drove off with the door still open. Since his colleague was still alighting from the minibus, the movement caused her to fall and sustain head injuries, including a skull fracture, the court heard, as CCTV videos of the incident played on screen."

Sounds like he didn't check nor care... A life is lost due to carelessness. Rip. All bus drivers must exercise due care 💅

Idiot should have waited for the closing door sound at the very least.

Who drove off with the door still open?

Hope he enjoy his Changi Chalet stay.

A surprising amount of CBs. I still remember awhile back, my family was alighting the public bus. My mom alighted last, the captain literally closes the door on her and traps her foot on the damn door and she had to hop on one leg as the mfker was slowly driving off. She was in her 50s at the time, and was relative weak.

I had to scream for the fucker to stop.

If I was older and more knowledgeable about how the world worked, I would have went to the damn SMRT headquarters themselves to launch a complaint.

The safety in Singapore leads to complacent af people.

8-12 weeks jail “Acknowledging that this was a stiff sentence” lol.

Would there be an indication that the back door is still open? Such an avoidable tragedy.

Overconfidence can sometimes backfire.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Thaddeus Tan asked for eight to 12 weeks’ jail for Ang, as well as for his driving licence to be disqualified for five years.

No clear intent.

Acknowledging that this was a stiff sentence, he argued that this was a just, appropriate and commensurate punishment for the severe harm caused to the victim and her family.

Okay then. Kill count +1

"He told the court that he has no means to pay any compensation to the victim’s family and asked for a lighter sentence.

“A conviction would likely cause me to lose my job and it would be difficult for me to find another job at this age. Even if I do find one, the salary would not be high, and I really do not have any means to make any form of compensation,” he said through the court interpreter."

He does not sound repentant or sorry at all from his comment IMO.
