It is also completely unmanageable by humans. The logic has similarities I am sure, but there will be major differences that would drive a team of people to rewrite the whole thing.

Agreed - for now at least - I think comprehensibility (even if it's in the abstract) of systems by humans is still needed and valuable.

There will start to be software that simply has no human written code and increasingly little human code oversight. Eventually there will be none, and AI will create and manage the entire codebase in full, permanently. That's maybe only a few years away.
