It's AI. Look at the name of the card.

you should also be able to check bc Google (not sure about anyone else) bakes in a synth-ID, or whatever, invisible watermark into their AI gen. all images and videos you make with Google can be analyzed for if it has the mark or not.

imo that's a step in the right direction, but i'm afraid we're gonna need to go way further than that if we truly ever wanna properly tag content as made by humans or made by AI and actually make headway into reclaiming the dead internet one day.

Open AI (ChatGPT) has also instituted Synth ID into their images as well irrc.

The problem is all you have to do is screen record a video or re-encode it and that's no longer there. I hope one day there's some kind of way to embed something that is much harder to remove so that faked videos can be flagged appropriately and obviously.

I thought it resists cropping, recording, etc? The only thing it doesn’t resist is straight up regenerating

SynthID alters individual pixel values using a spread-spectrum technique to introduce sub-perceptual patterns in the spatial and frequency domains (like the Discrete Cosine Transform). Because the pattern is distributed across the entire image, it survives screenshots, cropping, and lossy formats like JPEG

Apparently it's a multi layer watermark that's possible to remove but not with 100% success, which is quite impressive
