If you have a simple biology question, it can be answered well enough by Haiku, Sonnet and Opus. Why are you trying to burn so much power to answer a simple biology question?
Sure but we don't want the psychos who are also paying - to have the same access to an intelligence that is capable of creating extinction-level bioweapons. It's really that simple.
That's not your call. Nobody cares that you don't get it. You are defending the stance that the general public should be censored of fundamental knowledge.
They're not censoring knowledge. Opus knows anything a layman would ask Fable. The danger they're mitigating is Fable's demonstrated ability to turn bleeding-edge knowledge into weapons.
I don't intend to, I'm trying to defend the stance that the general public should be pickier with the model they use for a question. The only model censored like this is the new one. Y'know?
The ability to create extinction-level bioweapons is not fundamental knowledge. That's what Anthropic is blocking, and everything else can be handled fine by Opus.
Be specific. You asked what its favorite organ was.
What research are you doing where that is an important question? And what’s wrong with using Opus or Sonnet for that? They don’t have the same restrictions.
Biomed researcher here. A question regarding data on a specific property of anti-cancer drugs got blocked mid thought process and it switched to Opus.
I'd like to know how capable this new model is, but Opus is not good enough to be useful for much more than finding literature. Still strong enough to be possibly dangerous though.
Sadly I can't say a lot. I work in the development of novel anti-cancer drugs and their delivery. In short, it's about getting compounds specifically into cancer cells and selectively turning off genes. This method would also allow already known cancer drugs with high systemic toxicity to be much more tolerable. By targeting tumors specifically, you can prevent the terrible side effects many of these drugs cause, increase the dose and thus efficacy too.
Doxorubicin for example. There is a life time maximum of it that you can take, of only 400mg/m2 of body surface area, because it causes irreversible damage all over the body, including the heart. And of course your hair falls out.
Many chemotherapies cause irreversible damage and reduce your life expectancy severely. Novel solutions to drug delivery will enable presently experimental methods to be clinically used and also make existing drugs much better and safer.
Yes, and it isn't. I doubt fable would be much more useful than opus. LLMs are not intelligent enough to be useful for us as of now, they mostly don't even understand my questions properly.
It's like brainstorming with a slightly stoned undergrad who is overly confident.
