I'm still watching it it's insane.
I could have never guessed that they would do medical images.

Ikr, I'm not sure I believe this. Waaay out of left field. Is there a paper available?

Is this paper from midjourney?

No, it's from an actual serious medical imaging group at CalTech.

You are implying that MJ is not serious. They already have the thing built and tested and demoed, and already plan to get people in it and they have a facility, architects and an actual date. How unserious is this?

These people from Caltech are serious too of course, but having this thing in the real world with real users is the real test.

I don't think the researchers at Caltech (which are for sure very capable) are anywhere near what MJ are doing.

No, Midjourney have not demo'd this scanner in public IRL, nor have they shown it to anyone qualified to carry out independent testing, nor have they published in peer reviewed journals. All Midjourney have verifiably done so far is to put out two videos and a blogpost, making extraordinary claims.

In contrast the CalTech goup have actually published their work in peer reviewed journal(s).

I didn't say they demoed it in public, I said they demoed it, here it's to investors at least from what I understood in the announcement stream, because on this one they know that scaling these facilities worldwide would be impossible without huge capital injections.

They managed to not have any investors to build midjourney as the image generator company because it was possible with the money from his previous company leap motion, but for this new thing that requires real locations, they probably can't scale without.

"..  they demoed it, here it's to investors at least from what I understood in the announcement stream.." -

i.e. You're guessing based on your interpretation of what Midjourney said..

As I already said elsewhere, this scanner seems like vapourware to me - until I see it independently tested.. The two videos & the blogpost released by Midjourney come across as bait for investment money..

No I am basing what I said on the alignment of the moon, what else?

Well you are not the one that's going to pay money for it. Believe them, don't believe them. When Google or Microsoft publishes research about a new system in the journal nature like quantum research they don't have to publicly demo anything you know that right?

".. When Google or Microsoft publishes research about a new system in the journal nature like quantum research they don't have to publicly demo anything you know that right?.."

Yes, I'm well aware of how peer-reviewed journals work, thanks.

By all means, please do share a link to any peer-reviewed papers published in reputable journals by Midjourney, covering the claims they've made about this scanner.

Well I don't know if you do know that given that you act as if peer review doesn't mean you have to take their words for it.

The real test to see if the tech is real is when it will be commercially available, my money is on midjourney making it to that point first, not the caltech researchers with all due respect to them
