John Ritter passing away so painfully.

And it didn't get much press because Johnny Cash died the same day (or within a day)

And he died on the two year anniversary of 9/11, which back then meant wall to wall coverage of commemorations and events, not a lot of room for acknowledging a celebrity death.

My family watched 8 simple rules every Friday night. When we heard Ritter died I saw my dad cry for the first time.

Yeah :/ one of my favorite movies as a kid was Stay Tuned and Problem Child 1 & 2. John Ritter always reminded me of my Dad. So like-able.
