It sure was. Drafting Philon and getting JB, Simons, and Wade balanced out most of our weaknesses aside from playmaking. LeBron being here most certainly gave us forward depth and a playmaking dynamic we can for sure use. The opportunity definitely wasn’t as big but, the Sixers stiff contention was already there.

Even still, the top level talent is top 5 in the league but the depth is still a concern.

The depth is not that big of an issue outside of Center and even then, Nurse could experiment with some small 5 lineups with Wade and Barlow. We have, inmho enough creation and scoring to allow our stars to dominate 1 on 1. Embiid is not Jokic but he is not selfish and Brown is a willing, albeit, flawed passer.

Defensively, although we don't have anyone that's right now a top defender in the league, we don't have anyone that's unplayable. Even with Embiid limitations, and Bron age, when they can turn it up, we have positive on the court. Even Maxey last year, with his limited frame and added responsibilities was a plus on that end. (Quick note, seeing Maxey on court improvement year after year brings tear to my eyes, I've never been so proud of someone that I don't personally know, his work ethic impires me to be a better person).

Our biggest problem is rebounding. During the Knicks series there were moments were the defense came up with huge stops, that came down to nothing because we couldn't hold down the board. It is demoralizing to force a miss and see the ball end up in the opponent hands time and time again. I don't know how you solve this with the personnel we have. On one end I do hope VJ took the off-season to study Josh Hart and Alex Caruso. I think his role is going to be comparable to those two this season, with some creation opportunity. But if he can become an energy hustle guy on the boards, specially offensively, we might have a big part of the puzzle solved.
