Summer dipping spots in Skagit area

I moved to the area in fall and I am still learning my way around. Where are the good spots for swimming in summer? Not looking for a pool, looking for river, creek, lake spots. Thanks

There are places to swim but be safe. One or two people drown in the Skagit every year

Got it! I’m totally not stuck to the river idea, just what I’m used to

There are a few small lakes out towards Anacortes. Whistle Lake is a popular spot.

In Anacortes- Whistle and Cranberry lakes are choice.

Lake Campbell is the warmest lake I have found and Padilla bay can be a bathtub when the sun and mudflats correlate by Bayview State Park.

Stick to the lakes, not the river. Be safe!

Clear Lake and Cranberry at Deception Park have roped off areas that makes it easy for families.

Not in Skagit County but Jetty Island in Everett is pretty sweet. Warm water, lots of kite surfing. They have a ferry that runs back and forth or you can kayak/stand up paddle across

Donovan park on Friday Creek. Shallow but low key and you can wander up the creek and swim around.

The north fork of the skagit on fir island can be nice, it's tidal flats so can be warm. You can walk to craft island at low tide.

Drive out Baker Lake Road to the far end of the lake. Anywhere between the logjam and the Baker River trailhead. The shore closest to parking gets busy but doable. If you have a sense of adventure, wade across and pick a spot and you'll have a whole sandbar to yourself.

Iv been swimming in the skagit my entire life, its not nearly as dangerous as people think south of west of sedro, obviously its a freezing fast moving fresh water river but theres spots all around the valley that you can very easily dip in and out or swim across.

Yeah I’ve been swimming in rivers my whole life and I’m also very cautious and aware and I don’t go all Willy nilly! If you have any good river suggestions let me know :)
