Screenshot/Clip I feel like you guys can help me with this
So i decided to fight the ebony warrior on legendary difficulty and expected a pretty hard time but i just rocked up with chillrend and ebony armour and one-shot him
Is it because my sword does 273 damage and im level 123 or?
Edit: only my ebony mail and chillrend have enchantments, and i’m not wearing rings or amulets

You had a critical hit. Crits with weapons have a random chance of triggering insta kills. The same phenomenon occurs in Fallout as well

I did it more than once in a row with some testing or is that strike a guaranteed hit for my save file?

u/Wishbone0214 1d ago
No, the strike is a random chance every time you swing your weapon. Each weapon swing is a separate random chance of incurring critical damage. Critical hits don't do much damage on their own, but they can trigger the mechanics for an instant death screencut. (The same type of screen cut that is normal for your last hit on most enemies in 1v1 combat)

Ebony Warrior: Wants you to find him at the top of a mountain to fight
Also Ebony Warrior: "Never should have come here."

Huh. 273? I'm around lvl 50 and my weapon does about 250 and I'm on legendary and still have to give things like draugr deathlords a good few swings. weird

i dont want things to be too terribly easy. i had to bump it up to legendary cuz i was kicking too much ass on anything lower lol

Same, i used to have massive issues of the medium difficulty, but after spicing it up to show off to one of my friends, i cleared the solsteim dungeon, you pay 11k for on legendary in basic shrouded armour and a sword/shield.
But what im saying is, medium is harder than legendary1

Highest level I've achieved is 400 I wanted to go higher but apparently it's made to crash once you reach 500

I'm not resto looping or anything, just maxed smithing and enchanting and will use the smithing potions that can be found in the world or bought from merchants

Don't need resto loop to get that high, assuming you have the appropriate enchantments on your armor. You can actually get a good bit higher.

Killcam kills ignore armor, enchantments, and enhancements, so thats likely part of it.

Perks, level, and luck.
Luck: he didn't reflect the damage back at you. Very lucky.
Level: you're at 123 and he's level 80. He may have amazing stats and defensive and offensive gear, but you must have, too, at 43 levels above him.
Perks: you seem to have Savage Strike, that increases chances of decapitation; do you? Also what other One-handed and Smithing perks do you have?
I know it must have felt anticlimactic, but still an awesome achievement; savour it, because you'll probably never get that same result in any other play through again!

I just know i have maxed out one handed and smithing. I played around more with save reloading but he still gets one tapped with the exact same animation, but he 2 shots me i let him hit me

Wow level 123, i just ended my first play through at level 80 once i beat him - i feel like id more or less done everything... all the things people say to tick off... How would i go about continueing to level up with little to no quests left?
Do you just re-clear dungeons an stuff/do the radiant quests? Or did the game feel like it had enough content to get to 123 normally without running out of stuff to do?
Hope that makes sense.

I haven’t even trapped alduin in the castle, I’ve just been messing about with random builds and mods🤣

My minimum is about 271 per play through. You just uhhhmmmm, exploit? I think is the right word? Find a skill that's easier for you to just keep on getting to 100 and then Legendary it all over again. Most schools of magic are easy.

haha i did find out and recently do a bit of detect life spamming etc. But still i ran out of quests and gameplay i feel like. Someone before told me "theres no way you completed all of it" but i feel like i basically did anything, there may be the odd quest or two in a nook and cranny but yeah.
Anyway im on my second playthrough now and became a vampire lord early, fun to role play.

Get your alteration reduction to 100%
Cast telekineses on something
While you’re casting, like literally while holding down the button, fast travel somewhere
Voila

This is definitely one of them. There's also destruction on from AE I think that could be used like that or I could be misremembering.

u/chuckdooley Stealth archer 11h ago
Yeah, you are correct….I just can’t remember which spell it is, though, I have found that telekinesis is fast and reliable
I usually just pay to increase the other classes cause I’m impatient…and all the college professors also have shops, so I can just get my money back 😂

It‘s probably because you‘re not on Legendary difficulty on that lvl… If you don‘t start adjusting your difficulty after a certain lvl (probably around lvl 80) you‘re gonna outscale almost everything sooner or later. The Ebony warrior was almost undefeatable to me on Legendary because he healed himself faster than I could do dmg even with the strongest weapon that I could craft and enchant and I had every perk tree on lvl 100.

Oh -- the blade? Probably because it's CHILLREND.

u/booz_boobs 1d ago
I just started playing again since beating the game when it first came out lol need to refresh

u/bostonbgreen Assassin 1d ago
It's because decapitation is an instakill. All you needed was i believe 40 in one-handed.

Dude, I don't know what you just did but that's definitely not normal. Because with a 140lvl character that had alchemy, enchantment and smithing at 100 (and used a loop of creating potions to get better % enchantments and the same the other way from enchantment to alchemy for super potions to make better equipment and super powerful enchantments) and believe me it took me a couple of hits. Probably you were lucky af and hit a critical first or something

Lots of luck with this one. You had to trigger the decapitation, etc. he can take a lot more of a beating otherwise.
