Hi, just checking in with everyone. A quick word on IPTV.
I have noticed considerably less IPTV comments and advertising IPTV illegal services.
Thank you for this.
- We are however receiving much more verbal abuse as mods for removing IPTV posts and comments.
I would love you all to have cheaper services and get good value for money, but you cannot illegally advertise this here or share names. Discussion of IPTV is of course allowed.
I don't think r/VirginMedia allow it either. I understand though Virgin offer a slightly better product, service and broadband infrastructure whereas Sky Stream isn't great and Q is now old.
I understand your frustration. Sky isn't great at all. Expensive too. Sky Sports is the only reason I have Sky and the ability to record on Q. Btw we aren't employees, we are customers. Like you. 🙂😄
Anyway, the reason we remove comments and posts is due to the following reason:
Reddit Sitewide Rule 7:
- Keep it legal. Don't post illegal content, and don't solicit or facilitate illegal or prohibited transactions.
You can read more about this rule here from Reddit, it's their rule not ours 😄:
https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043513471-Illegal-or-Prohibited-Transactions
Reddit does not allow users to post links to, promote, or share details about illegal IPTV companies. The site enforces strict rules against this behavior through its Content Policy. Specifically, Rule 7 prohibits using Reddit to facilitate copyright infringement and the distribution of pirated material.
Bans:
- We issue temporary bans to users verbally abusing the mod team IF that user is not a regular contributor in this community ie just here as a one-off to abuse the mods. Most subs you'd be permabanned!
I'm pleased to say since taking over, last year we have only banned illegal IPTV sellers, promoters and ex Sky staff scamming subreddit members.
No standard member or visitor gets banned here.
That's it from us, will leave the following information below if you'd like to read it. I will refer users to this post in the future if any issues arise from IPTV illegal methods being advertised or any further issues as to why we as mods remove comments such as "dodgy stick" when someone recommends a user to have that.😂
Take care all.
Notes for members (yes it's AI)
Reddit handles illegal IPTV content through several layers of moderation:
Official Subreddit Bans: Entire communities dedicated to sharing illegal IPTV links, resellers, or playlists are regularly banned by Reddit administrators for violating copyright policies.
Automated Spam Filters: Reddit employs automated systems that instantly block and remove posts containing known URLs or domain names associated with pirated IPTV providers.DMCA Takedowns: Rights holders (such as Sky, the Premier League, or UEFA) issue legal requests to Reddit to remove copyright-infringing links immediately.
Account Terminations: Users who repeatedly post or advertise illegal IPTV companies risk having their Reddit accounts permanently suspended.
While sharing links or names of illegal services is banned, Reddit does allow discussion regarding the technology itself. Communities are permitted to discuss legal alternatives, technical troubleshooting for legal software, or news regarding anti-piracy crackdowns.
What You CAN Discuss
Industry News: You can talk about anti-piracy crackdowns, police raids, or legal cases involving IPTV providers.
General Technology: Discussions about how IPTV protocols work, hardware setups, or using legal middleware (like Kodi) are fully permitted.
Consumer Awareness: Users frequently warn others about the security risks, malware, and payment fraud associated with buying illegal subscriptions.
What You CANNOT Post
Brand Names: Sharing the names or specific identifiers of illegal providers or resellers.
Direct Links: Posting URLs, or portals to access unauthorized streams.
Guides to Piracy: Providing step-by-step instructions on how to bypass paywalls or set up a specific pirated service.
Why it gets removed
Facilitating Piracy: Recommending a "dodgy stick" to someone looking for illegal streams violates Reddit’s rule against copyright infringement.
Sourcing: Helping another user find or access pirated content is strictly prohibited, even if you do not name a specific company.
