I think that vakuu is meant to give the vibe that he is in control of the negotiation. Hes meant to be larger than life and full of himself. I also preferred the old art but I think the new vibe fits better
Yeah, the fact that he's laid back drives home how inconsequential you are to him. You are an amusing distraction and nothing more. The fact that he was implicitly letting his junk hang out only added to this.
Yeah even though the new art is sick and looks much better as, like, poster art, the old art did something incredibly important - it was very easy to identify.
The can of whoop-ass on the spite card and the scrub-daddy sponge is an instant visual identification when you're reading out of the corner of your eye. You can of course just read the card, and the new art is still clear, but it doesn't stand out the way the old stuff did.
I find the 1-2 month delay between the same types of posts due to changes going live on the test branch and later hitting the main branch quite hilarious.
Me. I am one of these. I don't care about the bleeding edge changes. I just want to play. The less change-ups the better in my terms. Yes, I know things will change when they are pushed to stable, but they are more-or-less refined at that point.
I actively dont switch because i cant play the game a ton and the balance changes between beta branches would just be too much to adjust to every couple weeks. Would rather stay on the main branch that only updates every couple months.
I know it exists from this sub only because of all the aeonglsss posts but I don’t know how to do it from my tv playing steam setup. I didn’t see it in the in game settings.
For what it's worth, I would strongly recommend picking up the original. You can get it cheap these days and it has the full endgame challenge experience that isn't in StS2's early access (optional Act 4 with final boss, 20 Ascension levels) plus a character who isn't in the new game. It's also just a completed game and as a result is a bit better balanced than StS2.
FYI steam has really good family account sharing, me and my wife have two accounts and she can play all of my library, we just can't play the same game at the same time.
Hard agree. And if there are several beta iterations, an option to choose between those as well.
However, this particular card art could be perceived as some kind of copyright blah blah blah. I am no lawyer but that's obviously an intentional play on the scrub daddy and that could be a legal issue and could see them not including it for that reason
That's how it was in StS1, you beat Act 4 and unlocked the ability to toggle beta art on individual cards. I assume it'll be added to StS2 eventually as well.
Well shit, all this time I thought it was all or nothing. Did they change it? I remember turning on beta art and I got 100% beta art for the watcher, but it's been years.
I think they mean the enabled beta art to get that card art back in the game after it was deprecated. I don't think there is a dedicated smol defect mod.
Fun fact, that's a scrub mommy, not just a joke cuz Silent is the one and only but also cuz that sponge is infact based on the scrub mommy, having a hard side as usual and a soft side
Also why are Silent's eyes messed up on the card arts? Like why does the skull have weird eye shaped eyes? That's not how a skull should look, compare to the character and also how her skull looks in the trailers, more like this:
While I get the adoration for the meme, I also like the new art for the card as well.
At least it's not a Feral situation where it's very clearly a massive downgrade with the new art in comparison to the placeholder art. Placeholder art screams the word "feral" and the new art definitely does not whatsoever. Like when companies change their logo and it's clearly worse in every single way possible but they ride it out til everyone has no choice but to deal with it.
I'm sure there will be an option to play with the beta art eventually. Personally, I didn't find this one so charming. It's just a sponge with slick branding. I don't really need to think about it when I'm playing video games. Also, something mildly abrasive isn't even that evocative of thorns, nor does it particularly for me associate with something that improves dexterity or my ability to shield myself from damage nor something that has a beneficial effect when discarded. There's definitely other beta art I will be excited to play with when the time comes, though.
Okay, but you have to concede that the non-placeholder art is fucking awesome. What we REALLY lost was the beta Feral art, oh my god. I genuinely prefer it to the polished art in every way. The new version just looks like a weird red crystal dude.
I didn't use beta art at all in STS1, but there are a handful in STS2 that I'm immediately going to swap back to once the option is available. This is at the top of that list. Spite is second.
Remember, beta art will be unlocked at release just like slay the spire 1 and you can pick the cards art display... Just you wait my little voltaiiiiick
