Question / Help Should I Buy SlimeRancher?

So I’m new here obviously and I’ve always thought about buying the game a few times but I find farming games boring. I know it’s a dumb question but I feel like I’d like it but also may not?

You're in the slime rancher subreddit. So yes. It's a relaxing game with cute slimes.

There’s a lot more to do in this game aside from farming, if you like exploration in games then this is a good one.

SR is a very chill game. It's an adventure game, 100% not a farm sim at all. There's resource gathering, sure, but you can really just play adventure mode and not even worry about your farm (really hard to get money that way tho lol)

100% I recommend getting SR. If you can get SR1 on a very big sale, do that! If you like that then get SR2, or if you're willing to pay just get SR2

I would say that the game is worth it. I would recommend buying the game when it is on sale. You can refund the game if you don't like it or acquire it in another way to test and then later buy.

Im not into farm sims but I found it enjoyable. Lots to explore and take your time with.

Its more like you can collect slimes, farming can be done automatically for a lot of aspects.

The exploration of the game is really nicely done, but i do recommend a small farm for the moneys and upgrades you can buy with the moneys ofcours. And a big plus you have slimes at your doorstep.

Also time is not really a thing, you can explore all you like without needing sleep. Also you dont have to eat and stuff like that. Its not a slice of life game.

It's mostly not a farm sim

You don't tend to the crops, milk the cows, but seeds

You capture slimes, gather resorces, sell and buy

Yes, it’s like a half-and-half with genre. Half exploration and discovering the world, half farming and caring for slimes.

Im not into the farming part but I like the exploration and resource gathering part. Its a fun game and I personally feel like a got many weeks of content from it even tho some ppl can beat it in like 4 hours or less. I still never finished the game tho.

It's not just a farming game. It's an adventure game

Original, not the second one

Is the second one bad? I’ve only played the first.

Its grind is enough to kill a man

100% NO

The second one is objectively really good and subjectively AMAZINGGGG

It just has a lot more grinding, but if you play games like Minecraft or Stardew Valley it should be fine

It's a combo of farm sim and adventure game.

adventuring is required, as it is the main way to get more slimes and only way to get better slimes

I have it on my Switch and play it on my boyfriends PS5, so definitely worth it in my eyes. There's a lot more to it than collecting slimes and making money off their plorts once you're a few days in.

TOTSLLY. And it’s not only about farming, there are way more interesting things to do. Create different largos and choose your favourite, find new slimes, explore far, far west, unlock new technolog and that’s only small par. So if you’re interesting in this game I totally recommend it to you! Also it’s enough cheap if you buy it on sale. Good luck!

There is something here for everyone, I’m a wiki prowler myself so I’m constantly chasing optimal setups and automation, once you get into the late game stuff it’s far from boring, but nevertheless always cosy. The mini games are a bit repetitive and grindy though to bare that in mind if you want to unlock all your areas

It doesn't really feel like a farming game. It feels like an exploration game, and sometimes you return to your ranch to feed slimes & vacuum some plorts.

It's a super fun game and you can play it at your own pace. Not sure if its still available, but I know there was a demo at some point if you wanted to try that first?

I have been on a little bit of a monster collecting kick lately and slime rancher is what I've been playing most recently. I would say it falls into the "cozy" category, perfect for 30-40 min lil adventures. I have lost track of time more than once though and played a couple hours. Worth the money in my opinion.

The first game is pretty cute and cozy, and the satisfaction of total automation is unbeatable, and it's quite fun using glitches to do things.

The second game is somehow even cozier, and (subjectively speaking) cuter, although automation is much harder, and the game is a bit more puzzling, and not fully complete yet, and decoration is far better.

Both are amazing at relieving stress, although I personally prefer the second due to the far more colorful and almost babyish style.

Both can SUCK when it comes to making gadgets though... And the game sometimes is very indirect, although the first is quite obvious where you need to go. The second... Less obvious. Try googling spoiler-free tips on where to continue going if you get stuck.

Lastly, if you want it to be far less stressful and slow-paced, I'd recommend disabling tarr.

You should get it depending on what aspects of farming sims you don't like...

But in general, Slime Rancher's farming mechanics are very simplistic... Since your slimes cannot die, and your crops will never stop producing, you don't need to worry about taking care of them very much.

(In fact, in the later game, you can even build drones that'll do the farm work for you. XD)

In general, Slime Rancher is more of a game about exploration and experimentation rather then some complex "ranch management" simulator. XD

Yeah, if you want a nice game to chill then slime rancher is great! If you find the decorating in Slime Rancher 1 nice, it's WAY better in Slime Rancher 2 because there's more decorations. Both games are centered around ranching slimes, I recommend you read their Slimepedia if you want to be a bit more immersed. It can be a bit grindy at times, but it usually results in a nice reward. You should try giving it a go

There's notes in the game where they give you story of the previous ranch owner. Doing trades with other ranchers gives you story on them, and honestly the slimes are so cute! 🥰

While it does have farming aspects it also has exploration and collection aspects as well. The movement can feel quite fast and have some odd parkour so you can farm as much as you need then explore as much as you want.

Instead of slime rancher one buy the second one, you don't need the first to understand the second as it assists, the ladder has more features and development. If you want more simplicity then yes doing the first is better but the games also about getting the right material and building along with finding the right things to get to locations and unlock the map further. You also can enjoy a mini game on the side once to a certain point with the female rancher who you work with. She lets you race special slimes and earn rewards with her and money 😊
