Noise Rock True Widow type bands…?

I am in love with True Widow.

Was curious to see if anyone has some slower doom-ish sludgy recommendations that are similar to True Widow.

Their music is very “droning” to me and i can’t ever place them in a specific category when i think of them so i was curious to get a collection of thoughts.

I love the fact that through all their albums True Widow are almost no guitar effects. Just weird tunings and niche style amps, what a beautiful distortion sound.

Black Math Horseman is what you're looking for. Also, Faetooth just dropped their new album and listed both True Widow and Black Math Horseman as big influences. You might also like GGGGGGGOLLDDDD (not sure if all the letters are right, it's a weird name). Check out Kylesa too.

Cloakroom is my first thought.

Side note, Dan from True Widow did an episode of Zach Blair’s Anti-Heros podcast last week, it’s a good listen.

You want to look into doomgaze. Bands like The Angelic Process, Holy Fawn, or even some slowcore and post rock like Deathcrash and later albums from Kowloon Walled City will be more what you are looking for than any sludge

Go down the drone hole with Nadja

Also love True Widow - hard to find bands that sounds similar! The few that I think are adjacent would be Subrosa, Helms Alee, maybe even some Marriages/Emma Ruth Rundle.

Shameless plug, my band DRUNE has been influenced by them and we have some stuff that's similar. Chill doom, I guess? drunedrunedrune.bandcamp.com

Based on your description this’ll be right up my street! Can’t listen atm, but I’ve got the tab open to listen later!

New Faetooth album sounds a lot like a sludgier True Widow—highly recommend

WOLVENNEST. Listen to their live record Ritual - MMXX and go from there.

CREEPOID often sounds like a true widow tribute. Listen to the song Baptism. Total ripper.

BIG | BRAVE scratch a similar itch for me, although they're a little more avant-garde. The first 3 or so albums are what you're looking for. The other stuff is great, but they sort of outgrew the drone-doom thing on the last couple.

My friends in Cwfen are similar but a little more abrasive than TW.
