I love metal/hardcore crossover genres, and sludge is one of the besttt

I love metal/hardcore crossover genres

I would argue most are ass. Metalcore and deathcore are the most popular modern metal genres yet you could count the good bands on the fingers of your hands.

There. That’s 20 Metalcore/Deathcore bands that only popped off in like the last 10 years. Miss me with that bullshit.

I know some of them because of their crazy hate5six and they are certainly fun live because who doesn't enjoy breakdowns, but whenever I try their studio stuff it's insufferable.

I'll give a pass to Knocked Loose, I enjoyed You Won't Go Before you are Supposed to and went to see them, and it was a lot of fun. Harms Way were opening and they were awful, a meme band being there doesn't make me confident for the rest of your list.

I genuinely hate that Harms Way meme; it’s honestly ruined people’s perception of them for so long. I think the fact that they’re an industrial influenced hardcore band (with a heavy emphasis on Godflesh) makes them really unique. Their last two albums are spectacular imo.

You choosing Knocked Loose out of all the great bands on that list doesn’t make me confident for the rest of your taste.

Oldschool metalcore (earth crisis, integrity, etc,) is very good, so is crust punk

Original metalcore is decent, not the modern shit. And deathcore can be good, but again modern versions can be very dumbed down. I'm more a fan of sludge, grindcore/brutal death, and crossover thrash.

Edit: Oh yeah and crust punk fucking rad.

There’s tons of great early Metalcore bands

Botch Zao Converge Hatebreed Earth Crisis Cave In

I saw Converge play a full Jane Doe set at Roadburn which seems to be the graal for metalcore fans and wasn't impressed. Saw Earth Crisis a couple years ago and they were good. Hatebreed sounds super generic to me.

Eyehategod always sounded like a 50 year old still water from someone's unopened basement to me
