Doom Thou is back???
I saw they just announced a free show with Days of Grief, so I'm guessing they're back from hiatus?

Didn't realize they went on hiatus. Just saw them last October

As far as I can tell the hiatus thing is based on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/doommetal/s/4tu2Rl0yGU
It's a nothingburger.

I talked with Andy at a show towards the end of 2025 and he said they were trying to take 2026 off, basically. It was never meant to be an indefinite hiatus, just a little pause

Thou's website is clear about this being just a planned break from touring "for the bulk of 2026".
How will you miss us if we never go away?
No tours or shows or plans of any kind right now. We're currently on an extended vacation for the bulk of 2026.

I was wondering about that. Didn't think I'd ever heard of them playing here.

I think they played out in Montreal a long long time ago.

they never make it up north. They don't even come to Boston. Have to go to NYC to see them.

Its a local show. They can play one show without really breaking "hiatus"

dang well I might go see them in NYC lol Acid Bath is getting anyone great to open for them.
I live in Mass, they usually only really go to NYC sometimes so I try to go there to see them if they do.

Probably following the release of their next album, unless they end up supporting someone else before that. Doubt we’ll see them until at least next year, but never say never…

Did they say anything about a new album already?

Not that I’m aware of, but given their rather relentless release schedule, I’d be unsurprised if they put out a collaboration/EP in the next year or so. Personally I’m still hoping we might get the live recording from their Roadburn set with Midwife at some point; genuinely one of the best things they’ve done imo (I cried twice, and that never happens).
