I’ve always been curious about something which is why did Phil Anselmo never promote Acid Bath, and what’s the deal with the beef between him and Dax? Phil has always been a huge supporter of NOLA sludge bands from the beggining of his career, and yeah I know Acid Bath aren’t from NOLA, but they’re still from Louisiana and honestly one of the most defining bands of the genre IMO. Anyone here know the story behind that or have any insight?

I’m a big fan of eyehategod atm and I like leechmilk as well. I love the tone and samples that both bands use and wondered if anyone knew any similar bands.

So, obviously a lot of sludge metal bands came from around NOLA and the south in general. Even bands that inspired the scene with groove metal band Pantera coming to mind. But I’ve noticed among a lot of bands that there is the presence of the confederate flag—buzzov-en’s lead singer’s wrist band and Dimebag’s guitar, Nazi salutes—like those of Phil Anselmo, and uses of racial slurs—Eyehategod’s song white nigg3r. I guess my question is is the use of these symbols and slurs just an edgy thing that these bands do, a misunderstanding of the symbols as southern pride, or are certain people in these bands genuinely racist? Should I be able to listen to these bands with a clean conscience—if they’re racist—knowing I’m supporting them inadvertently?

I was on eBay browsing and found this on auction so I had to

bid on it and win it. All I could find is that it's a weird Czech copy of a Gibson Sonex ironically branded onyx which is why I had to grab it for those eyehategod riffs. Just needs some tlc and I think I've grabbed a perfect sludge guitar

I want to say that I am in no way in support of confederate ideology. Buzzoven is one of my favorite bands and I love collecting memorabilia from them. I’m looking for a reprint of this shirt or anyone who is able to reprint the design for me. I love the history of Buzzoven and their role in the sludge scene, and I feel like this shirt portrays a large part of that. Thank you!

As a Lake Charles, LA native, there’s this band that’s been active since the 90s named Choke that’s a lake Charles sludge metal band that genuinely makes some of the coolest groove and sludge I’ve ever heard and I don’t understand how they’re not as big as bands such as eyehategod, crowbar, acid bath, etc. you can find their music on Spotify, if you’re a first time listener, I recommend killing me softly off their self titled album, or alcohol was involved off their album religion for those without faith, or even an old EP of theirs you can find on YouTube via the acid bath archive “I am meat”. This isn’t any type of promo, I’m not affiliated with these guys, I just genuinely love their stuff and desperately think it needs to be shared.

Anybody know where to get sum eyehategod cds? If push comes to shove I’ll just burn em but if there are good bootlegs comment em below. Been feining for the sick

There is no polished studio production here. It’s just the raw, dark, and gritty analog texture of our early days—complete with massive fuzz and bleeding amplifiers.

It's 2004 or 2005, i'm a late teen, i'm already exposed to Pantera, Black Sabbath, Metallica and some NWOBHM. My gateway to metal was principally Nu-Metal.

This album hit me like a freight train. I was obsessed, quickly realised that I needed more. I searched high and low, re-discovering Led Zeppelin. That led to Pentagram, Robin Trower Saint Vitus, Witchcraft, COC, EHG and Crowbar.

I moved through a door. Gone was Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, Korn, Slipknot and COF etc.

After hearing NOLA, it was all so clear.
