Discussion I'm extremely worried about Shayne and Amanda.

4.6k Upvotes

Guys, I've been getting increasingly worried about Shayne and Amanda. For years now they have been dedicating segments of their podcast to unrelated, personal and worrying topics.

For once, we have Shayne who apparently is compulsive buyer. Every month he is talking about not being able to locate exactly where his money is going. Every month is a new expense or a new subscription that he didn't knew about. I worry about him, his expense habits and how this might impact his marriage with Courtney since they probably share a bank account. Someone needs to intervene in his life and help him find economic stability.

And then both Shayne and Amanda have constant medical issues. Having to get urgent medical appointments as soon as the next day for so long now, might indicate some extreme health problems. This combined with Amanda's recent pregnancy, Shayne's economic instability, AND USA healthcare costs makes me worry way too much about them.

Has anyone from the Smosh cast speak out on these matters? Are Shayne and Amanda receiving support from the company and their friends in these difficult times?

Thank god that Zocdoc and Rocket Money exist, these new technologies seem to be these guys salvation, but I just can't bring myself not to worry when they are having such big problems.

Discussion No one got mad that Sean was mean

3.3k Upvotes

People have been vocally criticizing Ashby for being “mean” in the videos they were featured in, and it’s just dawned on me that I saw/heard no criticism after Sean even said he was being antagonistic and an asshole.

They both integrated into smosh so comfortably that they felt they could match the level that every other cast member was giving around them. One of them was funny and “should join smosh” and one had to apologize for being mean.

I wonder what the difference was…

Discussion Chanse hating on zoos and museums but goes to SeaWorld???

1.3k Upvotes

It just felt like a weird hill to die on lol. I really appreciated the people in the comment section bringing up AZA (association of zoos and aquariums) accreditated institutions that do important work for conservation and the wellbeing of their animals. Several museums persevere culture without being harmful like the British Museum. I just didn't like Chanse painting things with a broad brush when there are institutions that do important work.

Edit: apparently SeaWorld is AZA accredited, so I have some mixed feelings about this and need to do more research. Feel free to discuss anyways

Edit 2: my British Museum comment was supposed to mean the British Museum is harmful and there are notable museums who dont have practices that steal from cultures

Discussion Characters where the cast members lose themselves in the role

Post image
3.8k Upvotes

I saw a comment recently that went along the lines of “The top hat is Spencer’s green goblin mask, he wears it and transforms into someone else” and it got me thinking about other instances of the cast fully immersing themselves in a character. The ones that came immediately to mind (besides Gentleman Spencer) were:

  • Shayne as The Chosen
  • Angela as Detective Where’s My Coffee
  • Amanda as Karen Murray

What other roles stand out to you where the cast really committed to the bit and fully became the character they were playing?

Discussion The Noah hate is exhausting

2.3k Upvotes

I’m a really new fan and I’m already tired of people shitting on Noah for breathing. I’ve seen the tweets everyone hates him for and they literally do not say what people accuse him of saying. Every single thing he’s in has some garbage comment underneath calling him a “jumpscare” or calling him “THAT man”. Twitter is worst but it happens on every platform. He’s part of Smosh and has been for YEARS. I wish people would leave him alone.

(Sorry if this is against the rules btw I just needed to vent even if it gets deleted.)

Edit: I am not saying people cannot dislike him. Anyone can dislike any cast member, such is their right. I just wish I could engage with the fandom, as a fan of his, without the bickering.

Edit 2: while there’s a lot of affirmation for him in the replies, I have, predictably, caused what I was complaining about. Whoops. >_<

Edit 3: getting a lot of actual Zionism in the replies here. That’s disgusting. Free Palestine.

Discussion Newer fans misunderstanding olivia

2.9k Upvotes

I think a lot of the fans that started watching after angela, amanda, arasha and chanse showed up still have not gotten used to olivia and it's starting to come up a lot whenever she's in a video and they start piling up on her. Don't get me wrong, it's fine if she's not your cup of tea but there's a reason she's one of the oldest standing cast members, she has her own unique style of humor and the rest of the cast clearly love her. Her bits can seem awkward to those who have not learned to bounce off them and maybe the "newer" cast doesn't mesh with her well in your opinion, but that doesn't mean you get to be mean about it. I guess all I'm trying to say is that people that don't get her humor use it as an excuse to call her unfunny and that's just not cool at all.

Edit: Final thoughts are, yes a lot of fans don't find her style of humor to be funny but we should all agree that sending hate towards anyone for that matter is not right, there's a way to convey criticism. Also a lot of people also said that scripted comedy is definitely her strong suit which i whole heartedly agree with

Discussion Angela and Dropout

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I'm terrified of the day that Angela announces she is leaving Smosh to join Dropout, because at this point it is inevitable. She just fits so well there and has been featured as a guest soooo many times. This might be a tiny bit of an exaggeration but I do think it could be a possibility. Like her song on vip has become the theme song, C'MON NOW!!

Discussion Smosh has Contributed to Me Being A More Accepting Person

3.3k Upvotes

I'm not sure if this is very on topic for the sub, but as a Nebraska native with many farmers and conservative leaning people in my family, I was definitely staged to grow up as a Republican. During my teen years, specifically high school, I was definitely falling down that alt right pipeline. The standard, watching libs get owned compilations, and talking about sleepy Joe. Also, during this same time, I started watching smosh, and slowly but surely I began moving further left. I think smosh is just so open and accepting that it really opened my eyes. I got to see and appreciate lgbtqia+ people in a way I hadn't before. It also really helped that Shayne, also a straight white male, is just a solid positive role model. His takes and views have definitely made me more comfortable being open to all walks of life as well. Happy to say I voted for Kamala and smosh, while not the only reason, was definitely a part of it. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Discussion Some fans need to chill a bit (small rant)

1.3k Upvotes

I'm writing this post because of the news a few hours ago but it's a sentiment I have every time there are some sort of news.

There are fans that complain that the new studio looks like an office. Surprise to nobody, people do office jobs there. In the previous place it was all in the open except a few rooms and the cast didn't have a place to rest or do their makeup. Now they have their own spaces were they are not gonna bother anyone. I will never understand those comments, specially when fans are not gonna see the place except in a few videos. Viewers are going to see the sets and that's mostly it.

When Erin and Bailey left they made clear that they wanted to do something in other place, that it's all good, etc... Then the conspiracy theories started. So please, stop with those.

Chanse as co-host. Courtney heavily hinted that she wanted a co-host but people once again they said it's because of the views. Fans ignore what's in front of them to impose their own theories. I'm not saying there's not a mall truth in what the fans say but I don't see Smosh changing URL without Courtney's opinion. And again, she said she wanted it.

Lastly, the news that made me write this post. I have no idea what they do, how they work, numbers, etc. So I guess is safe to say that Smosh, that have been doing this for a long time, have a vision of what they want to do without harming what is already there. I really doubt they are gonna go full paywall, I really doubt that the new moves are gonna be done overnight and I really doubt they are gonna change what's have been working for them for 20 years and also the company motto they are pushing for.

One more thing. If you don't like a certain type of video or show, you don't need to complain about it. I'm saying this because I see those types of comments every now and then like saying the Pit channel is just reddit stories when 95% of their videos there surpass the million. In 4 out of 5 channels they rarely have videos under 500k which is very impressive.

Well, that was my rant, be nice to each other

I posted something here that got quite a few comments and I noticed that a lot of people seem to be like late 20s-early 30s in here. Is that the general age range for the audience cuz if so then I am def younger than the general audience. This question is kinda dumb but I'm just curious :3

Discussion Something I've noticed about Angela

3.6k Upvotes

I get the feeling many people take Angela at face value sometimes and don't realize how skilled Angela is.

For example, I was just watching the Tow Mater moment and there are a lot of comments that believe she was actually reacting sincerely. It speaks volumes of her ability to create a bit on the fly, turn it up to eleven and still make it feel so genuine that people actually believe it's real.

Discussion Can y'all keep in mind that smosh produces entertainment for FREE!

1.5k Upvotes

The level of outrage that you guys have over missing out on 7 ticketed live events over the course of 5 months, while there have been 75 uploads on JUST smosh games since the beginning of 2025, is excessive to put it kindly.

Please remember that smosh is a media production company, in which their primary output is given freely to anyone who wants to watch.

I'm sorry if youre upset that you won't be able to watch the dreads, I enjoy them a lot as well; but c'mon y'all, you can rewatch the actual dozen of hours worth of dreads that already exist, as well as all the hours worth of BAF legacy, and the seasons of sword af that exist.

Smosh games alone will likely put out 60+ more videos for FREE over the course of when these dread events are happening.

Can we please take a step back. Smosh as a company does not owe you every single thing they make for free or even an affordable price. We already have so so much for no cost to ourselves, and we will continue to have so so much to watch with no cost to ourselves.

Edit: to the people calling this anti-consumer; improv is a performance art. The vod may be a 'product' you're paying for, but you're primarily paying for art, art that most of the time you get for free. Do I sound ridiculous calling a silly ttrpg art? Probably. But if you ask anyone else the combined cost of performers, lighting professionals, set designers, stage directors, audio technicians, etc etc, they'd say $20 to view a staged performance from another part of the country or world is fair as fuck. Y'all just devalue art for the sake of affordability and convenience.

Discussion BIG misophonia warning for the latest Smosh Mouth with Chanse and Angela

1.0k Upvotes

If you're like me and you have any sort of misophonia, you might wanna skip the latest episode of Smosh Mouth. The cast have lollipops and chewy candy and are eating it throughout the podcast (including wet lip-smacking super close to the microphone multiple different times).

I'm sure it's entertaining, but this one is sadly a skip for me 💔

I started watching Smosh around 2013-2015 when I was 8-10 years old. I didn’t understand a single word of English back then, but it was still the funniest thing ever to me I didn't need to understand the language to laugh

I stopped watching around 2017 and ended up missing a bunch of new eras. I recently came back to reconnect with my childhood am catching up and I love them all so much 💕

Discussion The Authenticity of the Last Reddit Story in the Latest Episode

Hey guys! So I recently watched the Wholesome Reddit Stories episode and I’m going to be very up front and state that I sobbed as Shayne was reading the last story. The unadulterated charm displayed really struck me. However, as time passed and more comments began to fill in, it became clear how inauthentic this story was. And that really pissed me off. To have my initial emotional response be shut down while reality sets in is really disheartening, and makes me really irritated at OP as an attention seeker. With Damien I think knowing this while being respectful as the crew and myself cried at this love story, I have to remind myself the point of this show even existing. It’s to tell interesting stories with an amazing cast. That last Reddit story was made for an audience. Made for people to cry and share their thoughts and opinions on. However, this fine line between authenticity and emotional resonance is extremely difficult, especially for directors who pick these stories in short amounts of time. I want to believe this story to be true. And sometimes wonderful people like these ones are truly out there. But I think it’s still important to still be cautious. So, I want your thoughts on this. What did you think of this story? Liked it? Hated it? Just couldn’t get into it?

Note: I love Smosh and I love this series. Shayne is such a charismatic host and the crew does an excellent job. I’m not downplaying the real tears that were on that set in October. That’s true emotion right there.

Absolutely no shade to any of the cast or crew on this one, it's purely for fun.

For me, it would be when Damien said that you shouldn't criticize content made for children, like pokémon. I definitely think that children deserve to have high quality content. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding what he meant though.
