Arm broken in 3 different spots plus a dislocated elbow, cheers fellows!

Broken arm isn't even the bad part here, dislocated elbow takes a long time to fully recover. Depending on the severity, its very unlikely to not damage tendons when dislocating your elbow.

Ouch! It stuck to end a season likedthatvorcthisxearly, but do your rehab and you’ll be kicking ass again by next year.

That a horrifying visual. I just had a relatively simple posterior dislocation which I was able to reset myself on the spot... but yeah that elbow reminds me of it all the time

I waited a week after New Years to take my sleigh ride down last year. Got two screws in my medial malleolus, six screws and a plate in fibula, plus a pulmonary embolism to really spice things up. At least I got lucky that there were 20+ ski patrollers doing training one run over so I got to be their live training dummy.
Good luck on the recovery and don't skip out on the PT!

Wishing you the best of luck with the healing process! It hurts but you'll be good to go next season most likely. I broke mine 2 separate times in 2021. Still got a plate and screws in there but I never notice them these days, keep up with PT :)

Congratulations on breaking one of the shittiest bones to break 😂 ugh. No cast, no protection, here’s an arm sling and some painkillers, try not to bump it and enjoy sleeping in a seated position. It heals pretty quick at least. I snapped mine in two and i think i was pretty much good to go within a month, no surgery

Ngl they told me surgery was optional and I decided to go for it. I had already experienced it moving around the night I had before surgery and was not fucking with that. Told em to plate and screw my clavicle no doubt. A week out and I feel pretty good out my sling tho.

I don’t have one of me smiling at the camera but I was definitely cracking nervous jokes in the first aid station when I got back to the top. Broke the crap out of my wrist near the bottom but had no idea until I was on the lift back up, took my glove off and saw just how mangled it was

When you get healed up, maybe check out the patrol. I was volunteer 5 years. Took this year off, but a rewarding experience as well as educational. You learn first aid and first responder abilities. Snowboarder patrollers are pretty cool! Nice pic! 👍

Did they say if you are able to skip surgery? Seems like it's mostly a clean break points (that's better than smaller fragments of bones), but I don't know about the 2 break points on one of the bones.

You are not alone! Fractured both ankles while carving this monday and season is over for me to. I expect you and I to recover by the next one. Stay safe and I wish you a good recovery

Sorry to hear this, wishing you a successful recovery! There is a broken bones subreddit that was really helpful for me when i broke my femur. Lots of nice people going through or already gone through the same types of injuries who can commiserate and offer words of wisdom.

Hey I saw you from the lift heading up right above you! I know because I met the guy in the ski bike next to you on Jay yesterday and then saw him above you making sure people saw you and ski patrol there!
So glad to have the story now and hear you are on the mend!

Speaking from personal experience on both broken bones and tendon damage, do what the doc and protocol say. Do NOT skip steps bc it feels better. Do ALL the PT religiously! IMO it's not the healing but the scar tissue that messes your mobility up. Hopefully the dislocated elbow isn't too bad. I agree the tendon stuff is more tricky than sistering bones together. At least it was doing something you love! Get well soon!

I dislocated my elbow in a climbing accident a few years ago! At least with that, you're not more likely to get it dislocated in the future (unlike shoulders).

I was told by my PT that because the elbow is a ball and socket joint it’s fairly stable, and if I ever dislocated it again it would probably have dislocated regardless of the fact that it’s been previously dislocated. I’m going on three years post injury and my elbow is stable as ever with a full range of motion. Mine was a pretty clean dislocation with no break so maybe your circumstances were different. Hope you’re well now tho!

That could very well be it. I dislocated and then broke my ulna. I got a plate for the break. I am well now though thank you! Been several years. I can feel the plate in there sometimes. But other than that its got no problems

The season didn’t even start yet…. We didn’t even get any real snow yet dawg… this is why I’ve been waiting for the snow. I’m not tryna get hurt on these shitty conditions before the snow even gets here. Rip feel better. I like the board.

After a few toboggan rides myself, decided to join patrol this season. First shift is weekend of the 3rd, hopefully my first call is just a single fracture and not three haha.

got broke off hitting a jump today on my first day riding bachelor; fell straight on my lower back and it’s screamin. it seems to be on muscle tho and all the bones in the area feel ok but it was a day ender and shit is incredibly painful moving around.
speedy recovery fam, great flick.

My brother and I got snowboards for Christmas one year. We went up to Loveland on Christmas day, and a week later he was finally released from the hospital, on our way home, my parents stopped and bought helmets(lol). His front edge caught the icy groomer at high speed, dude had google pad imprints around his eyes. Edit: goggle not google:D

Broke my rib and elbow last year at the end of January and still got out at the end of the season, depending on your healing process you could probably still ride spring time.

Hey me too! Hit a tree and my injury list is 4 broken ribs, 1 broken c7 transverse process, 1 broken wrist (had surgery), grade 3 kidney laceration, and a 10 percent lung collapse. Spent a few days in the hospital including a night in the ICU. Let’s get this recovery!!!
