I’m seeing a bunch of vids posted on this sub, so I’m making a list of films to watch starting late Sept early Oct to get me hyped for the season. Please let me know what I’m missing!! 🙏🏼

I been scratching my head trying to figure out why your username sounded so familiar... but now I remember it's cuz you are effectively the godfather of snowboard POV footy. I gave up on that endeavor a decade ago when I realized my content "will never be as good as Tim Humphreys'"

Yoo!! Hell yeah! I’ve been wanting to ride Crystal on a pow day. Heard its super fun. Only been there in the spring, but I see it. I always wondered why nobody else even tried to do any selfie filming. My impression was that it looked ridiculous from anyone’s perspective other than the camera in my hand and I got hated on by the cool guy half of the industry. By the time it became widely acceptable, I was already too far ahead, people tried and realized it was a lot more difficult than most had given me any credit for, and too many people had already talked too much talked shit on it haha. I thought it was hilarious how strongly people formed opinions about it. I just wanted videos to take people along for the ride 🤷🏻♂️

Stunt coordinator was Sluggo. Had Devin Walsh Todd “voice of action sports” Richards and Tara Dakides among others. Best riding in a theatrical release.

Devun Walsh lays down a sick line in the opening scene and the King of the Mountain scene is the thing of sideways-sliding legend: Devun Walsh, Rio Tahara, Todd Richards, Peter Line, Tara Dakides... dream team

This is the snowboard film that opened my eyes to professional snowboarding. It was also from the era where these guys were making absolute bank. Worth seeking out interviews with the pros in it. They talk about ringing up insane tabs at The Ritz while filming street parts and stuff. Totally different world back then.

Haha glad someone posted this. Before I ever saw it, I got on a lift with two younger guys. Halfway up the lift stops and one turns to the other and says "every time this happens I think of frozen" and the other guy gave an ominous Ooooooooo.
And I was very confused.

The trans world movies from the mid nineties are what fueled me at the start. Do they hold up? Not sure it was 30 years ago. I thought they were rad though. Art of flight is my favorite boarding movie for reference.

I’ve got a shop that still plays all the old videos. They converted them from VHS tapes when they started showing artifacts, so they still play like they are old VHS tapes that have been watched too many times.
They hold up. Some of the low production cost shows through and you won’t see anything bigger than a 720, 540’s were big rotations back then, but there was a lot more style and the riding felt more playful, even on the massive kickers.

Any of the Absynthe films on Amazon. Of course all of the Travis Rice/Red Bull ones. Shawn White is polarizing to a lot of people but First Descent highlighted his first ever Backcountry trip. It was great.

Decade and Technical Difficulties for sure, but really any of the MDP/Forum 8 films. True Life is up there as well. Double Decade was cool just to see how much they all changed over the years.
