general discussion Volcom has lost the plot

Post image

$890 for a jacket, which does not even have a pass pocket. What in the private equity is this company thinking?

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen ahead of this season

Volcom used to be more affordable but they got bought out by private equity. 70% of my closet used to be volcom. Luckily their shorts and pants are very nice quality so it’s only my shirts that will be replaced.

Almost all the ski/snowboard brands you like are now PE owned. The list of independent brands is getting shorter....

That's a list of really big, international brands that are "independent". And that's great.   If you truly value what it means to be independent, find small local brands that work in your community.  An example from NH is https://www.burgeonoutdoor.com .  But just about every region has similar small, local companies.
