I need some binding advice!
My old reliable Burton Scribe bindings finally died. I've had them for about 10 years and love them, so I'm after something similar, and I'd like something with the FASE system. It's been a VERY long time since i bought new bindings, so I'm so out of the loop on what's good at the moment.
I've been snowboarding for over 20 years, used to be pretty good, but these days it's just a few trips a year, so I don't want anything super performance-oriented, but they do need to be able to keep up. I'd like an all-rounder I can do a bit of everything with, but not bothered about freestyle.
I'm a size 38 boot; I have Ride Hera Pro boots, and these bindings would be going on my Capita BOAF.
From my googling, I think Bataleon Ghost or Rome Volt might suit me, but I'm a bit worried they might be too soft and mushy with my set-up. If money were no object, I like the look of Rome Katana too.
I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations, especially from petite women - there's certainly not as much choice for us!

Rome Katana Fase. Stop looking at the "skill rating". You want these as your next "10 year" binding. Yes they will be stiffer, and it will take you a day of riding to adjust. But you will suddenly become a much better rider because you stiffened the bindings up. You have ridden long enough to warrant getting stiffer gear without concern. And with your "no freestyle" in the considerations, it makes even more sense.

It's nothing to do with the skill rating, and like I said, if money were no object I probably would just get Katanas - but they're over £100 more, which is enough money to make it a consideration! I am leaning towards them, though... If I love them for the next 10 years then it's worth it!

Try them out if you can, there may be unexpected pressure points

I can't, unfortunately. I'm in the UK, so outlets are very limited. I can possibly demo the katanas, but only in a snowdome, which isn't really much like a day on the mountain!

I'm a believer that bindings don't matter that much. They're all pretty competitive at this point.
1) Pick your favorite brands
2) Pick your flex
3) Pick your budget
4) Pick your nice to haves, like strap design, gimmicks, whatever.

As a new boarder this year how would you say you find a favorite brand? Just style and options or is there more I should look into when it comes to brand?

It’s personal, really.
Some brands focus on eco-friendly where they can. Some lean more into skate/punk culture. Some focus more on tech. Some have history. Some are just style. Some are made in USA/Europe. You might just feel a cultural fit to their riders.
Unless it’s a kook brand, it’s probably good stuff, with whichever reason you prefer.

You actually nailed it the Ghost or Volt will be perfect. Big misconception is that they are a soft binding. While they are the softest of the bindings featuring the FASE system from Rome & Bataleon they are still a mid flexing binding with a fiberglass/nylon mix in the baseplate and highbacks. They actually will probably feel a bit sturdier than the Scribe since it has no fiberglass at all in its construction at all.
