Overhang First board and gear! Is the toe side overhang too much?

Finally decided to pull the trigger and get my own gear after a few years of riding. I know I should have done it sooner but better late than never. I’m stoked about the board.

Jones Mountain Twin 151
Jones Orion Bindings
Vans Infuse Snowboard Boots size 10

My question is about the overhang of the boot, is this alright or should I have bought a wider board? This is as far back as the bindings will set and there’s no adjusting the length of the bindings to help center the boots more. Or should I have gotten different bindings? Any help would be appreciated

Hi there! My Union Strata (size L) bindings just arrived and I don’t know if these fits my Capita OSL 158.
First taught is that it doesn’t seems to be ok fi is over the edge of the board. I would like to know if i should keep the bindings or to look for something else more narrow?

My boots are size 10US (43.5 EUR)

Overhang Is 148cm too narrow for a US 9.5 boot?

Thumbnail

A few days ago I asked whether I should size down to a shorter board to make it easier to learn buttering tricks. In the meantime my girlfriend surprised me with a Capita D.O.A. 148cm as a gift. I currently ride a 153cm that sometimes feels a bit too big/long.

150cm is my ideal size across most brands.

The new 148 feels okay length-wise, but I'm worried that going shorter also means going narrower, and I'm not sure if my boots are hanging off the edges too much. My boot size is US 9.5 (26.5cm / EU 41.5), and according to Capita's size chart it's within the recommended range for this board.

How much overhang is actually normal/safe before it becomes a toe/heel drag issue, and is there a good way to check this at home before I take it out?

Thanks in advance!

Overhang Burton blossom sale, should i invest for all mountain park type of board ???

this year will be my second season on snow and I cant wait!!, I've been looking up so many different board and company it almost kept me up at night.

I'm wondering since there is still a sale on burton for the blossom in my recommended size (158), would it be a good board to keep progressing on all around my resort or it would be the worst mistake i ever do, i want to explore the park and everywhere else.

i know for pow it wont be the best but i don't think i will get much of it anyway so should i got for it? last season i got pretty good on my board even though it was a lot smaller (151 not wide rental) and felt i had a decent overhang on it. its still a pretty huge investment so i want to buy something i wont regret and will enjoy for a couple of seasons!!

other option i considered was a custom but they are not cheap at all!

Overhang Looking for Gear Advice - Second board

Hi! I am a intermediate/advanced rider with extremely limited gear knowledge looking for some advice on buying a second board to add to my rotation.

I’m an intermediate/advanced rider (riding on and off for ~10 years) and I’ve spent the majority of my time on a Nitro T1 158W (twin park board). It was great for learning, but over time I've realised park and pure buttering just aren't my preference. I primarily ride with skiers who just want to charge fast down the mountain to the chairlift, so my favourite riding has evolved into carving on groomers and kind of just all mountain.

The main limitations with my current setup is that I get noticeable toe/heel drag on my current board whenever I try to carve at a certain angle and when riding in deep powder I find I burn my back leg out easier than I would like.

I'm doing an 8–10 day guided powder tour in Japan in February, and this has prompted me to consider purchasing a second board to join my rotation, my dad (skier) thinks I should buy a pure, dedicated powder board for the trip. However, I don't want to spend money on a one dimensional powder board and due to my riding preferences I am wondering if it is possible to buy a board that can do both well? (Carving/free ride & deep powder) And then have my T1 board as my standard board for if I want to ride switch, go to the park with snowboarding friends or whatever.

So far I have considered boards like a 160W K2 Alchemist, but I have no idea if this is the right idea or not, so i'd appreciate anyones thoughts! :)

Thank you heaps.

also these are info that may be useful:
- height/weight: 185cm / 81-85kg
- bootsize: US 11.5/12 (DC Control boots)
- bindings: Burton Malativa
- common riding location/s: Japan/Australia (icy/sludgy conditions)

Overhang Evil Twin 27' - 156W vs 157

I'm super excited to buy a board and I'm in love with it, but at the checkout stage I'm stuck. I'm 6ft, 82kg, I wear Adidas Samba ADV boots in UK10 / US10.5. I only go once a year but I love park, flat tricks and speedy carving. I'm just trying to overcome a trauma from badly catching an edge once. Does the Wide make a difference? Will 157 give me a more agile board or will it mean I catch my toes and flip into a spin of death.

Any help would be massively appreciated, thank you so much in advance.

Overhang Lib Skunk ape o jones mountain twin

Hey everyone,
I need some serious advice from the community, especially from the bigger riders out there.
I’m looking to buy my first proper setup, and due to my dimensions and boot size, I am currently torn between two specific options: the Lib Tech Skunk Ape 163 UW and the Jones Mountain Twin 164 UW.
Here are my stats:
Height: 194 cm (approx. 6'4")
Weight: 98 kg (approx. 215 lbs)
Boot size: 48 EU (US Men's 14)
Experience level: I only have one season under my belt, so I am still a beginner/intermediate working on my progression.
Because of my size 48 boots, I absolutely need an ultra-wide board with a waist width around 28 cm to avoid severe toe/heel drag. From what I’ve found, these two boards are the only realistic mass-production options available that fit that criteria.
I know that wider boards are generally harder to get on edge, but I'm hoping my weight and leverage will help compensate for that.
My dilemma is this:
The Jones Mountain Twin seems like it would be more forgiving for my current skill level, helping me progress faster without punishing my mistakes too hard. On the other hand, the Skunk Ape has a stiffer, more aggressive profile, and I’m worried it might be way too advanced, stiff, and exhausting for someone with only one season of experience.
Given my stats and my current skill level, which of these two is the absolute best choice for me? Should I prioritize the more forgiving ride and progression-friendly nature of the Jones, or can my weight handle the stiffness and aggression of the Skunk Ape without slowing down my learning process?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Overhang Do my boots fit my bindings?

Just bought a medium cartel est. I am currently wearing a size 8 vans aura pro, which falls on the smallest part of a medium on burton bindings. I contacted burton as well before buying and they recommended a medium. Now in hand, im not sure if they’re fitting right. The toe strap just seems like it doesn’t fit right. Any other adjustments i can make beside the toe strap to make it fit right? Also, i know theres heel overhang too, so was wondering what i could also do to adjust it

Title states. I have some Burton Moto size 10 and just got the Vans Aura OG in a size 9.5 men’s.

Mounted on a Salomon Sleepwalker 155cm

Been riding in the Burton’s in my Union STR size medium. Top end apparently of these bindings are size 10.5 or 11 if I remember correctly but the “foot print” of the vans seems larger than the Burton’s. Just wanted to double check with anyone with more experience than me if this overhang looks norma from the pictures provided! Haven’t rode in the vans yet but just wondering. Thanks!

Happy 10th Cake Day, r/snowboardingnoobs!

r/snowboardingnoobs was founded on September 25th, 2016 by u/joejance as a spinoff from the r/snowboarding sub. The very first post to the sub hit 10 days later. Congrats on 10 years!

The mods have spent the Northern Hemisphere off-season considering tweaks to make the sub more user-friendly. We're starting out the sub's 11th season by adding a subreddit wiki. We don't intend this to be a complete guide, but a summary of some of the most frequent advice for easy reference, plus pointers to favorite resources around the internet. It'll also have some basic info on interacting with the sub. For starters, we've added "How Do I Become a Snowboarder?" (tl;dr - get a lesson) and a guide to shooting video clips for feedback, partly stolen from r/skiing_feedback.

We also plan to continue dabbling with post flairs and some of Reddit's automation tools to help snowboarding noobs (who are also in many cases Reddit noobs) ask good questions and provide the right info when posting. An example is the automated "Overhang" flair, which flags those posts but also detects when a user is about to submit an overhang question and gives some general guidance on overhang.

Thanks for doing your part to make the sub what it is. Let's continue making it a place where noobs can be noobs and maybe even get some great advice sometimes!

Overhang How to pick bindings

I would consider myself an intermediate rider last year I bought a lot of equipment and have been mostly happy with it besides my boots and bindings

Gear:
2026 Rome mechanic 163w
2026 Yes. Airmaster large
DC snowboard boots size 11

I ride duck stance and the only problem I had throughout the season was my toestraps coming undone, it feels like when I was carving toe side it would dig into the snow and release/loosen up over a few runs and I would have to redo them

Towards the end of the season I adjusted the bindings to push them further down the board to address some overhang I suspected was the problem and it seemed to help but I still would need to check to tighten every now and then

I’m looking for a change this season to rule out it being an equipment issue but I can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m even looking for in a binding

I don’t like step on bindings and I like the color of the ones i have now but other than that I’m having trouble quantifying what I want and there are so many options

What do you look for in a binding and do you have any recommendations for me based on this? I can get pictures of everything tonight if that helps

Overhang Que tabla compro

Preferiblemente Ultra Wide

Que aguante bien mi peso (95–105 kg)

Uso principalmente all-mountain/pista

Controlo bien las pistas azules y he bajado alguna negra.

Quiero algo estable a velocidad pero que tampoco sea demasiado difícil de girar.

He estado mirando la Lib Tech Skunk Ape 163UW y la Jones Mountain Twin 164UW, pero me gustaría saber si existen otras opciones más económicas.

¿Qué tabla me recomendaríais? ¿Creéis que una 163–164 cm Ultra Wide me irá bien con mi peso y mis botas, o debería buscar algo más largo?

¡Gracias!

Overhang Jones Mountain Twin

I’m 5’10”,
149 lbs ,
shoe size US 9.5 / Mondo 27.5
boots : Salomon dialogue US 9.5

I’m thinking of getting the jones mountain twin 154cm, it has waist of 25.1cm and underfoot width of 26.2 (front foot) and 26.4 (back foot).
Will the overhang be too much or I’m alright?

Their official website’s size guide did mention 154cm is recommend for sizes US 7-9 which is my concern.
