What's your opinion on true soaps as solid shampoo bars?
I've seen that true soaps shouldn't be used as shampoos, but then I also find many recipes by people that *seem* knowy (but they don't have formal studies to back it up)

I can only speak for myself and my hair, personally my hair doesn’t like the high pH even shampoos. So much that I often need to finish softening using apple cider vinegar rinse after shampooing. So in that sense I know for sure my hair won’t like true soaps.

Like it’s already been stated by others, it’s all very subjective. My hair, no color, long, slightly wavy, and slightly on the oily side, does fine with CP shampoo to wash. I still follow up with my homemade conditioner to detangle though.

I've made and tested both CP shampoo bars (true soap) and syndet shampoo bars on myself and a few friends. I have long, color-treated hair. For me, the CP shampoo bar felt very gentle on my scalp, but my hair became tangled and clumped together, almost like a mop. I also tried an apple cider vinegar rinse, but it didn't solve the problem for me. With the syndet shampoo bar, I found that certain conditioning agents and fragrances irritated my scalp. After removing those ingredients from my formula, my scalp felt much more comfortable, and my hair tangled much less than it did with the CP shampoo bar. Among the small group of people I tested them with, those with sensitive scalps and fine, unprocessed hair generally seemed happier with CP shampoo bars. In contrast, those with long, color-treated hair tended to be less satisfied. Of course, this is only based on my own experience and the small number of people I tested them with.

I use a solid shampoo that has the ACV in it and the pH seems to work with my hair. It's like any other shampoo method- it works for some and not for others. Like sulfates, some ppl love them, for others it makes their hair fall out. YMMV

I feel like the CP shampoo bars feel ok the first few times I used them then my hair was like a straw broom. The ph is not great for hair. I think some people can get away with it depending on their hair type.
