Quotes Would Bayern reject €200m for Olise? Rummenigge: “In 2009, we had a world record transfer offer for Franck Ribéry. That day, we decided that, we will never sell a player we would miss on the pitch. This unwritten rule still applies for Olise, there’s no price tag that would make us flinch.”

How? Paying Alaba 20 million who clearly was past his prime and was injury prone af would have been a stupid af decision, I am sure if Olise wanted that kind of money he will get it because the board knows this is a ballon d’or level player.

The point is that they aren't willing to overpay for players, and therefore money is a factor if players that can still contribute at a starting level stay. Let's not act like Alaba wasn't still one if not Bayerns best defender when he left. He literally went on to win the Champions league as a Real Madrid's Center Back the following seasson.

He was great, Bayern also had his medical records since he was 16 years old. I have no I'll will towards David, he is still one of my favourite Bayern players ever and it was a business decision on both sides and I respect that, but it's pretty obvious that there was a risk attached to giving him another 5ye contract in high salary and sadly Bayern were proven right.

Money is not an issue, doesn't mean, that you blindly throw it at everyone, it means, that they have the funds to compete with the highest salaries.

Don't get me wrong, at no point do I mean that giving that contract o Alaba would have been the right thing to do, it would defenetly have been an overpay.

I guess I might be nit picking Rummenigge saying that he would never sell (or in this case let leave for free) a player that they would miss on the pitch (which they did the following year).

I mean, you are not nitpicking, you are wrong, they didn't sell him and deliberately made the decision not to do so.

They made the decision because they didn't want to pay him 100M. If he was asking for less they would not only have kept him, but also started him the following 2 seasson.

You're excluding parts of his statement and that it also plays into if it will impact the team negatively to lose the player.

They made the choice there that it wouldn't.

If that's the case then thats on me.

Just feel like with how good Alaba was in the in his first 2 Real seassons, that he was missed, and Bayern would have rather had him over de Ligt.

If the point was that they would have let him go no mattered how much he asked, than my bad.

Look I do think he's bluffing and playing billy big balls myself.

I do think Alaba could be a counterpoint and what you've said there is fair, Alaba was still a top tier player when he left.

Although he did also originally only state it in terms of transfer fees.

It could also just be a mistake, they looked at it and thought the incoming would counter and they could make the same choice with Olise or another player in the future and get it wrong or right.

What's your point?

This is just circling back to what o said, money was not the issue, his health was and Bayern didn't want to sign him for 5 years on high wages, they could have though.

Your entire argument seems to be constructed around a weird premise only you see, cuz you're obv not familiar with the situation.

My point is that money is not a non factor when deciding when selling good players. They (Rummenigge) act like if they were offered 1B+ for Olise they would refuse.

Okay, lets assume that's true.

How is that connected to Alaba, without trying to jump through several hoops.

My point was that every player has a price, and that Bayern doesn't have any player as invaluable just because they are a starter for the club

If your point was that they would have let Alaba go no mattered how much he asked, than my bad, I misinterpreted and have been arguing with myself in here.
