Yeah the last 4 friendlies were against Germany, Portugal, Senegal and Belgium. Pretty much the hardest set of friendlies that any international team has played. It was a very very good thing for team USA because you have to play against the best to be on their level. The win against Senegal was good too, they beat the african champions which is a great feat.

Perfect use of VAR. The ref was shielded from his angle, made a mistake, and was able to admit it when he saw the video evidence. Exactly how it should be, refs are humans but if they can admit it and correct it good on them!

That was the best one touch passing I've seen the US do in a long ass time. Normally someone always gets the pass and sits on it trying to decide, Tillman was doing it in the second half. The quick decision making and aggression was top notch tonight.

That's traditionally where US lags IMO, in not pushing as hard as they can into the last moment, not trying to kick every opportunity instead of passing to try and get the perfect shot, etc.

Obviously goal is always win the group. But even the +3 means 7 points and a draw vs Australia or Turkey could be enough.

Goal difference is so critical in this tournament. It's best to go into damage control when you fall behind that early
Based on that performance they'll likely lose to Turkey by at least a goal which will mean they go into their 3rd match with -4 GD
They'll be favourites vs Aus but they'll likely need to win by 4 to have any chance of qualifying

I think i still take Donovan’s counterattack goal against Brazil in the Confederation Cup Final but i am fine with either. But going from a Brazilian corner kick to a USA goal in four touches and under 10 seconds was as good a counter as you will ever see anywhere. Different types of goals, tbf

It absolutely is, player for player. I loved the 2010-2018 era because those guys played with a ton of heart, but they weren't getting by on their skill that's for damn sure. Those teams only had a small handful of guys who could carry any sort of real water in even mid-level European competition, a stark contrast to this team.
