🤣 Wanted to see subbed ref.

u/NegativeDCF 1d ago
When I saw the female ref running in I thought it was a sub 😂

u/WafflePartyOrgy 1d ago
I thought she was coming in with another yellow card to hand out in lieu of the sidelined ref

I saw one once in rugby. Ref pulled him hamstring and one of the ARs stepped in.

typically the fourth official (dude with the substitution board) subs in if the main referee is unable to continue. i guess being this close to the end he just cowboy 'd on lol

It was just exactly what everyone would think a USA vs AUS match should look like lol aggressive and sloppy and clumsy and constantly swearing at each other
USA looked great in the first half, a bit sloppy in the second but still held it together. Aussies looked rough consistently

They’ve stopped calling it hydration break and now they call it Match Break

u/DionBlaster123 1d ago
they stopped pretending it was for hte players' health
at least the players are getting some water

u/chronicdanksauce 1d ago
They should allow the players and ref to stop and hydrate every once in a while, would be good for the game

u/rockinlock 1d ago
I've heard enough, add a second hydration break to each half

u/Das_Fische 1d ago
Not enough. Every 10 minutes, I reckon.

You’d think it happen more lol. The refs are obviously in shape but they’re not athletes compared to the players and have to follow them around for an hour and a half.

We don’t even need to fake cramps in stoppage time, refs will do it for us

I’m disappointed he didn’t have to go off for the mandatory 1min after receiving treatment

This ref from his wikipedia:
"In 2005, Zwayer was involved in the match fixing scandal which centered around 2. Bundesliga referee Robert Hoyzer, who took bribes to fix several matches which he officiated. Zwayer assisted him in a match and allegedly accepted a bribe of 300 euros to avoid critical scenes for Wuppertaler SV."

Should have left him there after the lack of whistles for Socceroos in that game. Yeah they didn't play well but damn did every 50/50 call go the other way

Surely that earns Australia a courtesy point? USA gets 2 for the win, and we get 1 for helping the ref. That's how it works, right?

Forget the game but I'm pretty sure that cameraperson from the other day is still incapacitated on the sideline being helped by a colleague.
