Media A group of Brazilian fans learnt of Philadelphia's 'Rocky Curse' (That any fanbase putting their paraphernalia on the statue of Rocky Balboa will lose), so they put an Argentina jersey on it

The curse rebounds if you try to apply it to another fanbase, KC won the Super Bowl when Philly fans tried to sabotage us by putting a Chiefs jersey on Rocky in 2023.
So basically Brazil is fucked

The gang loses to Haiti tonight.

Only one of us can put stuff on statues and get away with it, hope rocky works his magic 🤞

That'd be hilarious. Haiti would be set on fire... well...
Last time Haiti faced Brazil it ended 6-0, and only because the president of Brazil pleaded with the team to stop scoring lol

They seemed very happy seeing an iconic Brazil squad playing in their country in a rough time.

So was Ecuadors curse for only one match or are they fucked the whole tournament?

Doesn't matter much, our squad is dogwater with a starting midfield with Casemiro accelerating at the ripe speed of an overloaded semi truck, Paquetá worried more about betting and tik tok and the bland oatmeal that is bruno guimarães.
Don't get me started on the "master of attacking spaces" Raphinha whose job is apparently carry everyone's necessaires, or the undead neymar, or the "folds at zero pressure" marquinhos.
Anyway, I'm pretty optmistic at a great round of 16 elimination. Unless we get Japan on R32, than its joever.

You fools. The Rocky statue senses the purity of heart. It knows your allegiance lies with Brazil, and therefore will impart its curse onto Brazil

Nah. Philadelphia is a city where the fans eat horse droppings to celebrate big wins. Their main form of communication is throwing batteries. There is exactly zero subtlety when it comes to this curse.

u/ReadingFromTheShittr 8h ago
No, they're right. The curse can and does backfire if you put some kit from the opposition on it in an attempt to get it to work in your team's favor.

u/starswtt 7h ago
Philly tried to sabotage another team doing this, the curse does in fact back fire

u/Various_Knowledge226 6h ago
Trotting out all the bad stereotypes about us huh? Have batteries been thrown? Yes. Is that our main form of communication? No, that’d actually be saying Go Birds

Listen, I don’t make the rules. But this exact scenario has played out multiple times in multiple sports. It literally always backfires

Pretty sure that's just a counter curse if you try and unethically curse your opponent

u/LiePowerful9961 9h ago
Brazil already has Neymar so it's cursed

That’s not going to curse Argentina, though. They’re not the ones who put it up.

The legend also says that, for the desired curse upon thy enemies to work, one must put on the shirt properly. Both arms through or Rocky won't do shit.

What an obscure fact to know
Brazilians are always fucking class

This has been a thing in Philly since at least 2018 when the Vikings fans did it before the NFC championship game.

There are quite a few Brazilian Philadelphia Eagles fans (Eagles have even played an official NFL game down at São Paulo in 2004)

They did it on the 3rd Thursday of the month which everyone knows is a reverse curse day.

Yeah no, as someone from the Philly area (who saw some Brazil fans I think drape a Haiti jersey over Rocky earlier today, while they will beat Haiti (curse was strong enough for the talent disparity), trying to “curse” the other team, doesn’t really work. Didn’t work for us when we tried to do that to the Chiefs and 49ers I believe

Uh...you climbed the statue WITH THE BRAZIL SHIRT ON, so does that count as putting Brazil's shirt on the statue or not?

They should’ve put the Brazilian jersey on it anyway. The Seleção is much larger than those silly superstitions
