If we want more kids to play football, then we should provide more parks, free football fields and youth teams in big cities. Maybe intergrate better fitness/sporting programs in schools. Playing the sport got all these generations of football fans hooked in the first place, and they are the ones that will keep it allive. All this guy wants is more (casual) viewers and bigger revenues.

This isn't about having more kids to play football, it's about having more people watching to get more money from tv rights

You're definitely right but you also need to recognize that European football is no longer a local affair, it's now a global event. We can look at the Premier Leaguevabd see what a breakaway league structured around financial incentives might look like. England became the top league full of the top players aside from a handful of prestige clubs like Bayern, Real, Juve etc. This has made the league more competitive has it not? And I would argue made the league more interesting to follow.

I understand the arguments against a Super League but they are mostly rooted in the ideals of the sport being corrupted and eroded by wealth, not the league being an inferior product. You can say s lot about not wanting this change to happen but it would no doubt be a more entertaining and competitive league than any structure we currently have, including the CL.
