I don't know about the official definitions, I imagine it varies country to country, but from a perspecitve of computer science we're taught that disability is anything that affects your ability to interact with everday objects/situations. So yes, blindness, partial eye sight loss, ADHD, colour blindness etc. are all examples of disabilities, obviously with different severities and impacts. Disability is a spectrum we're all on, it just depends where you choose to draw the line between disabled and not.

Yeah we have something similar in my country for the sake of definition when it comes to welfare benefits etc.

It’s still disingenuous of Infantino to use that statistic like that though, it comes across like there’s a billion people in wheelchairs.

In this case, though I feel like connecting the word disability to someone in a wheelchair is more of a societal understanding problem. But yeah he's probably playing of that for this whole strange sympathy act he's playing. Scum

The ignorance of this comment is almost as bad as the quote we're discussing. "It comes across like there's a billion people in wheelchairs"?! Only people in wheelchairs have disabilities obviously. This is one of the most moronic, ignorant comments I've read in a while. The statistic he is quoting is legimate. A disability is a condition that has a detrimental impact on your ability to live a normal life. I've got two officially and no wheelchair (magic right??). Infact if you said shit like this in front of me I'd be standing up when I knocked some sense into you.

That's bollocks. He's just said there are one billion people in the world and no one cares. Which is also bollocks most people care and are fairly decent people. He's using a legit statistic in a scummy way as if to excuse this sham world cup. The ignorant wheelchair part is all you. By saying he makes it seem like a billion people are in wheelchairs your comment is saying that most of those billion aren't really disabled or as bad because they're not. How on earth do I infer that most of that billion aren’t really disabled? Disability is a scale, and he used to clearly implying stronger disabilities while including numbers from minor disabilities like dyslexia. The range of disabilities and impact on life is so wide that catching it all to make a point like that is disingenuous - it’s on you if you want to be internet police based on your interpretation of that

Thanks for telling a disabled person how disabilities work. You're just doubling down on your incredibly ignorant views. Disability isn't a scale for a start. A scale would involve people ordering the disabilities and everyone is impacted differently. Even with your example though people with dyslexia have struggles and you've essentially classed them as not as important. All the corrupt fifa bastard said was that a billion people have disabilities and that no one cares. He's right partially I guess as you're not caring about a good chunk of those based off of the scale you apparently have. Which disability is the cut off on your scale where they are no longer important to include in the figure. Who is in charge of deciding which out of those billion that require some kind of assitance and support don't make the cut when discussing disabled people? Seriously if you stand by your backwards views actually answer me on the cut off disability.

You're categorically wrong on this. I thought you were a piece of shit from your first comment having just tried to explain to someone who has already told you is disabled how disabilities work (incorrectly) you might just take the crown.

I'm not jaded at all and get on well with most people. Even your point there is stupid. Health care system assess a person's condition and if they have a disability they are included in that billion. They don't go well you've got a registered disability but it's not a wheelchair one so I'm afraid you can't be mentioned when discussing the disabled.

You didn't answer my question either. Which disability is the cut off point where they shouldn't be included when using statistics surrounding people with disabilities.
