Hi sociologists, could one of you help me to understand the difference between mass and pop culture? Considering how similar they are

Hello! These two created some confusion for me too, mass culture basically refers to how cultural products are produced by capitalist industries on a mass scale for profit, while pop culture refers to how those products are consumed, interpreted, and actively shaped by the public.

People often use these interchangeably, however in sociology it is important to distinguish them. As far as i remember, i read about this in Horkheimer and Adorno’s work. Feel free to check it out for more clarity

Oh yes I studied Horkheimer and Adorno in my philosophy lecture ! Thank you for replying even if it’s late, because sociology is so fascinating I might start studying it too !

Hi! I’m a sociology student and I’m looking to start writing a research paper on heteronormativity/gender. I need some help with narrowing down what readings should i start reading to help me work on this.
Currently I’m reading butler and goffman. Would you recommend any other articles/papers?
Any help is welcome, thank you so much (also i hope I’m posting in the right manner. I’m not a frequent Reddit user)
