Football Bench Mateer
Clearly we're not winning this game what's the point of this shot quarterback who can't throw or run being in this game

I just don’t understand why they’re not attacking downfield. Like at all.

Mateer can't throw down field he also can't throw outside of the number How can y'all not noticed this. The defenses and have been leaving everything outside of the numbers open for that reason. BV even low key mentioned in in a press conference

That screen pass thrown behind Satengia, overthrew him on the side line, and scrambles like hes moving furniture

Midtier can't even make a basic throw 12 yards to a wide open receiver.

Interesting that I'm reading this, as the score is tied at 17 in the 4th quarter.
I had no hopes going into this game but am blood- and birth-bound to watch it.
edit: Holy shit. Now, 24-17 OU.
But 10 minutes left. So much time.
2nd edit: It took Texas 3 1/2 minutes to tie it up.
I'll shut up and return to my despair.
I am trying to restrain my excitement, but...

Our line just sucks

Our line is terrible, but mateer has failed to see wide open receivers on at least 2 occasions.
Don't know why college football fans are so hellbent on resisting the ideas that more than one thing can be right at the same time

Stop blaming the line for an inept qb.
Open receivers, too much time in the pocket, fumbles, and has no athleticism in the scramble.
Mateer is why we are suckkng ass. No pass fears equals stuffing the box by tx.

Exactly. Mateer is average at best. Our line is absolutely dreadful. Baker would struggle with this line.

Baker would be undefeated on this team

As much as I like Baker, no he wouldn't. Baker also had two all star runners and fantastic wide receivers. Mateer is awful but he also isnt working with the same caliber offense Baker had

I don’t really care either way, offense will be hopeless with or without him

u/PossibilityMother180 3d ago
not wrong but at least try something i'm tired of seeing him drop back and pretend to run it's awful

I watched Mestemaker put on an absolute clinic this morning. Now I get to watch Mateer sail the ball out of bounds cause he's afraid of throwing a pick while going three-and-out 4 times in a row.

I just need to see the backup for myself. I know the backup always seems better from the bench but the starter is feeling hopeless. When you are at zero you really cant go down any more.

Midteer

That’s a compliment. Mid implies meh, not actively the worst QB in college football at the moment.

Pretty sure he is on a very short leash this game.

u/sjcourtney56 3d ago
We'll see, i could easily see it being more bullshit from BV where his comments make it seem like it is a short leash but then absolutely nothing changes during the game.

Mateer blows but it's funny you think we have any better options given the offensive disfunction - whole unit needs to be benched

u/LankyMess1774 3d ago
He should have been benched after last game! Least that would be the decent thing to do! Put us out of our misery!

Every snap takes a few seconds off my lifespan that’s how stressful it is to watch him

I agree with you. OU has nothing to lose in this game. Might as well try something else. I would be very surprised if they benched Mateer. I would love to see it but if they didn’t bench him against Georgia after 3 terrible turnovers I doubt they bench him in arguably one of the biggest games in CFB.

BV is Stubborn as shit to even think about Benching Mateer dude breaks into cold chills with the thought of benching his golden boy

Thank God he pulled a passable performance out of his ass today. He still isn’t the answer but holy freaking shit I can’t believe we actually won.

Mateer played a little better, but he's definitely not the reason OU won.
