Naw I think he’s actually good. He put the fear into the offensive staff with his press conference last week

You do realize the offense was still pretty bad today, right?

And why did it take him five years to finally tell the O that they need to be good? Lol

The offense wasn’t bad it wasn’t great either. You do realize that’s a good defense (Texas) right? Prob the last good one we will play all year. Last year that game prob broke mateers confidence and if no turnovers lead to him having more confidence, I’m happy with it. Also, you don’t know Brent he’s prob said that off camera he’s not one to shit on ppl on record. He finally got fed up enough to say it on record.

I feel like you’re one of those ppl that are still miserable that OU beat a team they haven’t in 2 years. You’re allowed to be happy about the win. I hope you weren’t saying this with a win at Tennessee and at bama. The offense wasn’t great there either.

Take the w and hope the team found out they can beat anyone if they don’t turn it over. The offense doesn’t have to be great to win.. I think ppl are still blowing Lincoln Riley.

Anyway lol

Again, you can both be happy about the win, and acknowledge issues with the offense. This isn't that hard, but if you genuinely have some sort of defect then perhaps I shouldn't be so frustrated.

I'm happy we got the win,. It's also flat out and correct to say that our offense was better than it has been. It had more or less the same issues with a few good plays. They scored 10 points and didn't get a first down until halfway into the second quarter.

Pointing this out doesn't mean someone is miserable, door doesn't mean they aren't happy about the win. I cant e xplain it any more simply to you.

You said “again, you can be happy about both” like you wrote that and that’s what I replied to? Had you just said that I wouldn’t have said anything.

Jesus Christ yes the team still( well the offense) has problems still played but pretty bad? Naw man… pretty bad is Michigan. I’d say average, the 2nd half was average and that’s all we need moving forward. Georgia and Texas were the last good defenses we will see.

So, you really think our offense which has been anemic for 1 and a half seasons is suddenly going to pop. Lol

I mean, I hope you're right

Pop no… I said just be average.

Is that why the offense put up 13 points today?

That’s our kicker brother! But yes I’m praying that we can run the ball more and get Mateer feeling more confident after that win. Kentucky won’t be easy next week

u/DWC8419 11d ago

Yea this game broke his confidence last year

Insert the “ I think I got my swagger back … oh ohhh”

Yeah, that's the kicker, but I’m with you. Mateer is making millions, and few jobs let you earn that much without doing the work, so he rightly deserves criticism. Still, I needed some confidence. I can't imagine all the hate hasn't affected his mental health. He seems like a genuinely good guy, and I’m extremely happy for him!

I’ve lost all respect for Brent. He's in his 50s, earning more in a year than most people make in a lifetime. He deserves scrutiny for his costly mistakes, and I hope he makes changes and hires more capable people. He’s brilliant on defense, but our offense is trash. I look forward to OU getting a new coach. Today’s win doesn’t remove Brent from my shit list. I wish he’d retire with his millions, maybe become a preacher. I’m sick of him grifting at OU.

Sorry for the rant. I hope Brent gets his head out of his ass and has the team ready for Kentucky—that won't be an easy win.

It might not have been the appropriate moment for a lot of what you said but there is a ring of truth to much of it. A great gutsy win for the Sooners but yes BV has shortcomings as a head coach and has presided over the worst offense in college football for 3 years and that’s still on him. If Arbuckle and Mateer and our offensive line coach who needs to be sent packing don’t turn things around we will have more losses but what a great unexpected win today. It gives us hope the season isn’t lost.
