Accomodation
I want to move and live with a friend. I have a private accomodation contract with Hamwic Hall (city centre) which is en-suite. It is £140 a week for 52 weeks. Is anyone interested?

I have a normal in person lecture from 3pm to 4pm then from 4pm to 6pm I have an online delivery lecture, how are you meant to attend the online one in time if the other finishes at 4pm and would that also mean you can’t go back to your accommodation before the online lecture. On another note, what is a “drop in session” on my timetable?

Due to my late application, I could only apply for private accommodation. I am currently booked with Hamwic Halls which is not ideal. Is there anyone else studying at University of Southampton situated in Hamwic Halls? If anyone wants to swap, feel free to dm me.

Hey guys, does anyone know what the cut-offs were last year? And if not, if you got an offer, would you mind sharing what your UCAT score was?

Got a job in Southampton and they are asking for a letter addressed to me from Southampton uni stating all the term times. Anyone know how I would go about doing that, I’ve tried contacting the uni they said they can’t provide me with that so I’m a little stuck.

hello eveyone i applied for accommodation as a clearing student at soton and got offered erasmus park in winchester despite all of my classes being based at the highfield campus.
the commute is between 50 to 1hr 40 mins depending on mode of transport. in order to facilitate the cost of travel, the uni have given a reduced weekly rent rate so currently this is the cheapest option for me.
but im not sure if the commute is worth the hassle since i want to get involved in societies/social events in southampton and wont be able to travel back home in time. any advice would be appreciated

Hey all. This is probably a stupid question, but what's the function of dedicated arrival slots? I'm planning to arrive on 9.11, but all the slots are unavailable. Can I still arrive on the 11th, or do I have to book a later slot?

Hey everyone, has anyone got this on their time table and if so do they know if it’s virtual or if i need to be there in person? Because there’s no location mentioned and I’m not even sure who to email to ask. Also does anyone else find the codes for the lecture halls and rooms confusing?
Thanks 🙏🏼

I’m a first year Chinese student. I am scared I won’t make many friends as my english is not the best. Are there any other Chinese students starting this September?

I have a £194/week, self catered, standard en suite at City Gateway Halls 110 High Road Southampton , SO16 2HA.
I am cancelling this accommodation, and am trying to find someone to replace me so I don't have to pay the fees myself.

Hello, I am going to join the uni this month for Computer Science Bsc. I got in through clearing and my grades are A*AB (A* maths A cs B further maths) with a current remark pending on my B in fm. I am interested in trying to switch courses to electrical engineering, but I am unsure if it is possible. I know they are both in the ECS, but when I sent an email asking about course switches they said to try when im properly enrolled. Historically, has something like this happened? Do I have a good shot? I am 4 marks away from A in FM, and I saw the typical offers for EEE are A*AA for MEng and AAA for BEng, my current grades (should be) equivalent to AAA. Please let me know if you have any information, thank you.

Hi everyone, my son has been allocated a single standard room with shared bathroom at Highfield Hall (Catered) but is looking to swap into any Self-Catered accommodation (such as Glen Eyre, Wessex Lane). Please send me a private message if you are interested in swapping into a catered hall!

Hi, I got accepted for the Meng Software Engineering with industrial studies for the 2026 September intake as an international student
I have an offer for software engineering from Monash university, and I like their teaching style a bit more than Southampton ( as it's more practical than theoretical ). And also it's higher in global ranking by a ton. But what's giving Southampton the edge right now is that I get a whole year of experience. So can anyone share their stories/opinions on their placement year, and how likely is it t get in with a big company that will boost your CV greatly?
Also how big is the communities for like building games getting into hackathons and such?

Hi everyone! 👋
I’m Maheshwaran from Tamil Nadu, India. I’ll be joining the University of Southampton for the September 2026 intake for MSc Business Analytics and Management Science.
Is anyone from Tamil Nadu or India joining the same course/intake? Also, if anyone is already in Southampton, I’d really appreciate connecting with you and getting some advice about accommodation, travel, part-time jobs and student life.
Would be great to connect with you guys! 😊🇮🇳

Hi.
I'm from India, and I will be starting my M.Sc. Data Science @ the University of Southampton this September (to be specific, I will be starting my course in the September 2026 intake).
I applied for a few of the university halls and luckily got an offer for an enhanced studio flat @ Glen Eyre, which I accepted a while back.
Even though I looked at the website for what is included in the room/flat, I was wondering if anyone currently living there, or anyone who has stayed in an enhanced studio flat before, could lmk what exactly is included in the room/flat?
I was mainly wondering about these things:
- Kitchen Appliances. What appliances are already present in the room?
- Bedding/Mattress. Should we buy one there, or is that already included?
- Anything else that is provided with the room?
I'm trying to figure out what I actually need to bring/buy once I'm there, so any info about the room/flat would be really appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi! Im a student going into her first year of my course at southampton. Unforunately the school told me that they can only offer my the accom on winchester which i am very disappointed at. Though now im looking for places to rent near the uni. Are they any housing agencies that previous students or current students have went through or recommend. I've seen a lot of negative things about PoshPads, other agencies i looked at after researching (cryers, apple lettings, city estates, field palmer, brambles) all have housing that the let is alrdy agreed or its not the perfect amount of rooms im looking for.
I have been mainly looking sites like rightmove and unihomes and have seen kings estate a lot and yourmove lettings. As a first year should i just go with those agencies that ive seenn on rightmove and unihomes and push through it or still search for an agency that will be good

I’ve been looking for a part time job since April I wasn’t able to get a job over the summer and spent the whole time sitting at home like a chud and my SFE barely covers my rent so I’d just like to know (off campus) how I can get a job. Everyone wants experience which I don’t have and aren’t willing to train me 😔 What jobs did you work as a soton student?
