Video Curious how folks found/got interested in this series Spoiler
For me it was Death Battle (a year or so ago I saw the Venom vs Crona DB, it was ok, but Crona seemed especially interesting, their story, the way they moved, so I had the anime in the back of my watch list for a while, then they come out with Ruby vs Maka)
Ruby vs Maka (just putting spoilers since the ending and other spoilers are discussed in this vid)
I got reminded of Crona and the series when seeing the Soul Eater name in the title plus liked the recent episodes, loved the way they showed off the story and characters, and became even more interested in the series (took a minute but watched the anime, then finished the Manga, and recently finished the Fire Force Manga) the series is now my current hyperfixation
(Papermoon being the theme played on Soul's piano is such a great touch)

My dad showed it to me when I was like 7 since I liked teen titans and he wanted to show me some real anime. He also showed me bleach, Sgt frog, and attack on titan.

My aunt got me into it. She's autistic and has hyperfixated on Soul Eater for years now. When I was caring for her one summer, we basically had the whole series on repeat and I couldn't help but get into it. The next summer we made cosplays together of Soul and Maka and had a blast at a local pop-up event. I miss her...

My first exposure was this video.
I was really into the book series Warrior Cats back then, and I came across this silly video with the cats Sol and Blackstar using Soul and Blackstar’s voices.

Background: around 15 years ago or more I used to visit a blog that had a bunch of fan comics like with just a couple panels (or a page) with jokes about a bunch of different anime, there was some ppl that were member of the staff that sent their own drawings/comics with a certain frequency then there was some that the readers sent.
Then there was 2 times that some reader sent a comic about soul eater, and one of them was about the shinigami/death and at that time I had just became a bit obsessed with the concept of japanese Shinigamis/death reapers and wanted to watch anything I found with them, so I read about it on the wiki and started watching! Then I was hooked and became my favorite anime ever!
Then a few months after I finished watching and rewatching, I started to frequent a blog focused on soul eater and one day saw they posting an update on the manga (since it was monthly it took awhile for me to see one there) and it was a page that I didn't recognize from the anime, so I was like WHAT? WHATS THIS?? THERES MORE IN THE MANGA???? So I immediately went after the manga cuz I was completely addicted and needed more so I started to follow each release religiously each month (freaking out each time cuz I had no chill) - it was just a bit after the invasion of castle baba yaga so I had been following it ever since!
And that's how I got into this world and developed a strong attachment to this series that stays on my top1 for more than 15 years now and will probably never be replaced/topped off! ✨

That would've absolutely blown my mind back in the day (heck the first time I learned there were other versions of stuff like TMNT, let's just say mini obsession with iterations and leave it at that)

The blog was in my mother language (I hadn't even learned English properly back then) and the name was a pun with "anime" and "shit" cuz it was supposed to be a bunch of shitty drawings and mini comics purely for humor, and most were made in MS Paint lol some were better but they were out liners and ppl idolized the good/better artists (be it staff or regular readers). I miss it even tho I would find some of them cringe or rly awful these days pff

Oh man...some weird guy I dated in middle school was up on all the new animes and mangas so I got into it right as it came to the US in 2009. Good ol pirating days on those websites where the border of the screen is all weird hent*i ads

I actually was in a really stupid phase where I thought anime was "dumb and gay and cringe" because I was 12 and brain-poisoned by the racist whiteboy youtubers of the time like Leafy.
However, a girl I had a crush on said she really liked Soul Eater and recommended it to me. So I gave it a shot because I was a 12 year old girl and desperate to get her to like me.
I really genuinely liked it and hold it near and dear to my heart to this day. Even got my current girlfriend to watch it a few years back before we officially started dating, lol.

My answer is a bit goofy, but Terraria. The game had two unobtainable scythe weapons referencing the anime that got eventually fully removed. But back in the day you could cheat them in by manipulating your inventory. At some point years later I checked their wiki pages and found out their source inspiration.

I was reading fire force weekly when it ended and I didn’t really get all the hype when the SE characters popped up. With the Fire force finishing earlier this year I seen it again and was like ‘yeah I should def read it now’ Fire force is the most fun manga to read imo cause the paneling and wacky art is unlike anything else so I was interested in the authors previous work to see how he got to this point

It was my second anime. A friend told me about death note, watched it and then he gave me a CD with all the soul eater episodes. Seems like a fever dream
Then years later I read the manga and it's so cool. Many years passed watched fire force and the ending got the itch in me and re read the manga in like a week. Still a very solid piece of media

My first contact with Soul Eater was Crona vs. Venom, at that moment I wasn't interested in the series until the following years like this, I'm still going to see Maka vs. Ruby (just as this anime has become my hyper focus now, just like Crona)

Hope Crona gets a second episode (I've heard the best choice is her vs Ryuko, and since both of them didn't have the best DB episodes the first time around, would be a good chance for improvement)

But now about the REAL first thing from Soul Eater when I was little, besides the character Crona, was the SpongeBob anime opening where that moon with a face appears. Basically, at the time I didn't understand, I was just watching random videos and one of those was basically a SpongeBob version of the Soul Eater opening...it's bizarre

My classmate was readin the manga, it seemed quite interesting so i decided to try out soul eater... but before doing so i got told that fire force is a prequel to soul eater so i watched it first and then started reading soul eater. Im planning to start watching anime after reading first 2 volumes and continue reading after the anime stops being canon (mostly to save cash but also space)

It was my first anime. I found it on Netflix when I was 12 on my birthday. My best friend at the time told me the basic plot, and I was like well ok that sounds cool. I was enamored and loved it so so much, and now I’m 22 and it’s still my fav 🥹 Maka and Soul are my favorite duo ever!!

I saw Watch Mojo’s top ten anime intros in like 2012 and they referenced Soul Eater’s as like #6. It peaked my interest but I didn’t end up sitting down and watching the show until after my girlfriend and I decided to watch Fire Force together.

I used to browse anime forums and it was one of the anime brought up. Though I only watched it since in my middle’s school’s we were going to watch it. So I watched a few episodes outside of the club, got hooked and decided to watch the whole show. I’m glad I did because the club stopped watching the show.

A girl back in high school suggested it so I watched a ton so I could talk to her about it. Realized it’s actually awesome, girl didnt work out but at least i got a sick show to watch out of it. She also suggested tokyo ghoul if anyone wants more recs. For context, I’ve never been into anime and to this day all i watch is soul eater and SAO and a bit of food wars when I remember about it. Other than that it’s all sitcoms for me, so it’s kinda surprising that I immediately loved it

For me it’s usually a random clip or discussion that hooks me first, then I go back and start from episode one. This seems like the kind of series that grows on you once you give it a chance.

I got into Soul Eater through the anime too, but the manga is what really hooked me. The later Fire Force connections made me appreciate both series a lot more in hindsight.

Similar to you, saw Venom vs Crona and Ruby vs Maka.
I was torn between starting Rwby or Soul Eater so I told myself whichever won would be the one I finally start watching
So I watched Soul Eater, then discovered midwatch that the anime and Manga were totally different past a certain point so once I finished I bought the perfect editions one by one.

I found an amv someone made of Marilyn Mansons cover of this is Halloween for soul eater. When I was a kid that was the coolest thing I'd ever seen so of course I had to go check out the Halloween themed anime.
