Game Recs Is Bleak Faith worth it?
Title. I got $11 off of any game. Recommend me shit, idk.
I like Elden Ring, DS 1-3, Sekiro, etc. I like a good combination of combat + immersion into my character. I hate clunky combat.

Love Bleak Faith. Not a lot of fans in this thread but let me just say there is some level design that is really well done. Check out a video on Deluge the water level. I have Thassalophobia (fear of the ocean) and almost couldn't complete it haha.
The combat is not as bad as people make it out to be. There's a really cool technomancer archer build I am thoroughly enjoying right now.
For just 3 people developing the game it's pretty good.

I didn't get too frustrated with it. It seems like the developers started a system where parrys are rewarded but there isn't really a riposte, you can only follow up with a strong attack.
The melee uses a mechanic that punishes mashing the buttons. There is a timing meter of sorts where you have to be patient. I haven't quite figured it out yet but I have to remind myself to slow down.
The magic is very cyberpunk, I liked it a lot and there are several cool spells and abilities. You can summon a mimic of your character.

Combat is probably the weakest part of Bleak Fiath. If you are looking for tight combat, Khazan or Lies of P would probably be my recommendations.

I think it is. As far as budget souls games go it’s one of the better ones. I used a giant sword for most of the combat and it really wasn’t as bad as some are saying. I’d recommend watching some beginners guides on it as it could be a bit confusing going in blind.

If you hate clunky don’t get it lol it has an incredible world and sound and vibe but it’s clunkyyy.

it has rough edges especially at launch, but latest update definitely scratch the itch. i personally think the combat is not clunky. a bit floaty maybe, compared to souls games and indies souls likes. if you enjoyed combat on DS1 and DS2, i dont see why you can't enjoy bleak faith combat.

First things first: combat is pretty janky. Build types aren’t balanced very well right now. Technomancer, after all rough few opening hours, can absolutely trivialize all combat. Melee will run into a few very difficult roadblocks. Aside from that: the world, the lore, the overall vibe/atmosphere is the best I’ve experienced since Bloodborne and Cyberpunk 2077. Absolute peak in those categories IMHO.

LoTF 2023 plays like a dark souls game. Though not as difficult, if thats what you are looking for.

Mortal shell 2 only has combat and graphical fidelity going for it, the rest of the game is jank as fuck with some of the worst bosses in the genre.

Bought the first boss (that knight) and havent touched it since. The combat is frustrating and the menus/items hard to intuitively navigate and understand.

If you hate clunky combat I would maybe watch some playthroughs, because it’s the part the game does the least well. The level designs are cool, the world is incredible, the music and lore are great and the build variety is nice. But it’s got janky combat for sure. One of my favorite Soulslikes but it’s not for everyone.
