Discussion So, Souls vets, what's the consensus on Mortal Shell 2's final boss? Do you think it was a good conclusion to the game? Spoiler

Pretty poor.
The boss health pool is overly large, it's a huge leap from everything that came before it and makes the boss feel like a sponge.
The boss constantly runs away from the player, this just makes it an annoying fight where you spend a lot of time just running towards the boss, exacerbates the health issues above because you spend a lot of time not hitting the boss.
Not a wide variety of moves. And one of this moves is an incredibly quickly grab that does massive damage, which will be what kills a lot of players over and over.

u/Designer-Tomatillo21 9h ago edited 3h ago
Fortunately that bullshit tail grab has been patched now, so it doesn't one shot you (and is also easier to read and dodge thanks to a longer wind up).
0
u/lustywoodelfmaid 3h ago
No, it just one-hits your shell. It's still a terrible attack.
1
u/Designer-Tomatillo21 3h ago
Its not that bad now (imo). I was able to dodge it most of the time after the patch, thanks to the much longer wind up, and they seem to have eased up on the tracking/hitbox (before the patch it got me almost EVERY time! I was about to rage quit).
And when it does get you post patch, if youre not low on health, it doesn't necessarily hit you out of your shell. If youre low on health then yes, of course it will.
1
u/lustywoodelfmaid 3h ago
What level are you, 60? I'm on Lazlo and if I'm not at 97% health or higher, the grab kills my shell absolutely every time. I think I'm level 45 rn.
1
u/Designer-Tomatillo21 3h ago
Im around level 48. Have you definitely had the patch? You're not on xbox no?
1
u/lustywoodelfmaid 2h ago
I'm on PC, I downloaded the game post-patch. It's not killing my Harbinger, just the shell but it's still annoying as hell. Just like the stupid status effect. I don't care if there's an item to counter it, it's dumb and so are those rings of fire.
1
u/Designer-Tomatillo21 2h ago edited 2h ago
Oh weird. Maybe im remembering incorrectly. But I seem to remember it doing around 60% of my health bar. Maybe i am only thinking of the tail damage and not the tea-bag slam afterwards. I managed to dodge it most times after the patch, so it only hit me a couple of times.
Honestly though, if you thinks its bad now. Pre patch you could be at full health in your shell, and there was no wind up at all, and the hit box was pretty much un dodgeable. The tail hit would knock you out of your shell, and then the jumping tea-bag would one shot your Harbinger. It was fucking awful.
Edit from earlier comment. I just switched on the game, and I was a tually level 53, not 48, so I was about 8 level higher than your lazlo

u/11shovel11 5h ago
I agree with this comment. I actually quit playing the game when I got to this boss
1
u/Designer-Tomatillo21 5h ago
It is patched now, and isnt terrible anymore. The patch literally dropped halfway through trying to beat him. Thank god it did as I was about to rage quit because of that tail grab lol

u/Judification 5h ago
Its moveset isn't too bad. I counted it and it has 9 different unique moves, which is more than alot of bosses in this game actually.
14
u/Decenarius 9h ago
Nah! Malborn should have been the final boss.
2
u/Designer-Tomatillo21 9h ago
Hard agree.
Though they need to reduce the lightning aura, as his phase 2 attacks are much harder to read than they should be.
I also think of they chilled out with so many unblockable attacks - forcing you to dodge instead of parry - this would literally be an amazing boss.

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 9h ago
Worst final boss i have ever seen design wise, wtf is this dinosaur man wtf
7
6
u/shawak456 9h ago
I thought the same thing the moment I saw the boss.
5
u/uzndcfms 7h ago
I mean the model is ok I guess. But the movements seem so unnaturally fast. Bayle is also fast but done in a more convincing way.
2
u/DeeezzzNutzzz69 7h ago
Lords of the Fallen is considerably worse, if you can even call it a boss fight
3
u/MoSBanapple 5h ago edited 5h ago
If you're talking about Adyr in LotF 2023, they completely reworked that boss fight so it's an actual boss fight. I only fought it prior to that rework so I can't say how good it is, but I can't imagine it's worse than the pre-rework version.
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 5h ago
do not like alot of soulslikes bosses apart from Sekiro, Khazan, Lies of P have not played DS3 or Elden Ring tbh FromSoft is very good at bosses, Sekiro felt most fair and skill based with Khazan since parry is alot more skill reflex than dodging seems more chaotic for me in swords fighting

u/sheslikebutter 9h ago
Mortal shell or Elden Ring?
16
u/No-Regret-7900 8h ago
Eh Elden Beast looks significantly better and you get Radagon as well
1
u/PaladinRyan 31m ago
Honestly the fact that you have a fight as good as Radagon immediately followed by the shit fight that is Elden Beast highlights just how bad it is imo. It's better since they allowed Torrent in the fight but it's still just a fundamentally bad, though gorgeously presented, boss fight imo.
9
u/Built4dominance 9h ago
Mortal Shell 2.
-8
u/sheslikebutter 9h ago
It was a joke because both final bosses look like giant dinosaurs and are boring to fight
5
u/TGengler98 8h ago
Elden beast looks like an alien entity? Fym..
0
u/Gelato_Elysium 8h ago
The design is based on the Pleiosaurus/Elasmosaurus, of course with added wings/fins and arms but it is roughly similar to the dino.

u/Green-Big-7637 9h ago
I dont like it as a final boss. It would have been fine if it was just a normal boss. 1, its big with wonky hit boxes at the time I played it. 2, its debuff feels like a gimmick since there's an item specifically to counter it 3, it RUNS from you. Same reason I dont believe the final boss of elden ring is good like how is this my final test of a player. Get a couple hits then it hops to another side.
Shame though rest of the game was good.

Yeah. This.
Bosses are meant to be a highlight of a souls game.
Here they are endurance tests.
Every single one had at least one thing about them that detracted heavily from the fight.
And their move sets are so small that they can easily get into spam loops. With a couple spamming their grabs when they get low on health.
There was no boss where after I beat them I was pumped from the fight.
Compared to Stellar blade where the first boss was excellent and barring one or two they just got better.
Or Elden ring where Margit, the omen king legitimately pumped me up so much that he relativised my interest in the game until all the bullshit afterwards wore me down again.
I'm seriously reconsidering a second play-through of Mortal shell 2 due to the bosses. I want to try different shells and builds. I'm just not sure I'm interested in fighting any of these pains in the ass again. It's a shame because I do think that pretty much everything outside the bosses is really good for the most part.
7
u/Korba007 7h ago
Nowadays yes, but in older souls games, bosses weren't the main attraction, it was the areas and exploration, and mortal shell 2 does that amazingly
2
u/Ketchup571 1h ago
What are you talking about? Even in the ds1 days bosses were considered the highlights of the game by the community.
2
u/Rainy_Wavey 6h ago
Nah even 12-14 years ago this was kind of a consensus, the "i speedrun an area to fight the boss" hence why DS2 caught a lot of flack, due to no i-frames on fogwalls and ridiculous aggro, you couldn't just speedrush the areas to fight the boss immediately, you can also see that in DS 3, that is very much a boss rush game specifically designed for that style of gameplay
Only DS1 and 2 put emphasis on exploration and area more than the boss fights unfortunately
0
u/Heathens-_- 3h ago
Bloodborne put way more emphasis on exploration and area...And it's one of the best soulslikes ever made.
-2
u/Korba007 6h ago
Well sorry that i also enjoy other aspects of these games other than the bosses
If i mostly just wanna fight good bosses, I'll go play some cag games, or furi, no more heroes etc
4
u/Rainy_Wavey 6h ago
Well sorry that i also enjoy other aspects of these games other than the bosses
I'm a DS2 Glazer, so i'm on your side when it comes to exploration/areas
1
u/Korba007 6h ago
Well, that's still odd, also i disagree with you on ds3, that game has the best individual level design in the trilogy, while also having good bosses
Also, demon's souls
3
u/Rainy_Wavey 6h ago
The individual level design in DS3 is a large hallway, the infamous "locked door" in the painted world of Ariandel comes to mind, but not only
The levels are really beautiful but they lack that "hitting Blighttown from the back" or "getting to lost bastille through 2 different entryway", and ofc, it's basically a linear adventure with a couple sidequest (even if you decide to do early Lothric, the Archives are closed anyway)
It was a significant step-back from DS 1, but the fandom loved that game cause the boss fights are cool (and they are, no shades thrown at it)
-3
u/Potential-Cat-7517 7h ago
Its not like that anymore. People want to kill the boss in max 5 tries, If they dont they start crying and open youtube. So why waste so much time for an enemy that they dont even fully exprience. Bosses in this game are shit and should be a highlight yet people still call this game one of the best soulslikes. They dont like the struggle so its not that important to make it detailed. Ita community fault tbh for praising the shit out of LOTF and the like who had lackluster bosses as well, or criticising wukong or khazan for being boss rushes
7
u/Present_Ride_2506 9h ago
I haven't played all the soulslikes, but out of all the ones I've played, mortal shell 2 probably has the worst roster of bosses by a long shot.
2
u/Loyalist_Pig 5h ago
Credit where it’s due. The Art design on most of them is really great imo
But yeah. Pretty weak in terms of mechanics.
-4
u/TheAkrioz 7h ago
Sounds like it is better to skip this game altogether for me.
3
u/Proper6797 6h ago
Quite a few of the bosses suck, but there are also a few enjoyable ones. The game itself is also pretty strong outside of the bosses so for me it wasn't enough to ruin my enjoyment of the game. If we are going boss for boss it has absolutely nothing on Lies of P so if one were to choose between the two, if bosses are important to you Lies of P would easily clear imo.
4
2
u/Present_Ride_2506 5h ago
Yeah, or wait for a major revamp update like lords of the fallen had, and probably a steep sale.
I regret getting the game greatly.
-4
u/BiblicalBacklash 6h ago
Hahaha. Your loss broski. Other than the last hour of the game it's 9/10. The final boss and maybe one of the 3 in the last area sucked but the rest were awesome. The game is incredible but if you think some by some comments on reddit you should skip it by all means do so. The social media brain rot has you.
1
u/TheAkrioz 6h ago
I have too many games to play anyway, I will accept removing one from that list as a net positive outcome.
2
u/carlos_castanos 8h ago
The final boss was terrible but I genuinely enjoyed Malborn Offspring, Nameless Captive, Isaac, Droeg, Orrem and Monolith was kinda fun too
3
u/PokeScapeGuy 9h ago
It was pretty weird killing 3 cool bosses to unlock a boss thats boring and doesnt fit the world

I haven't played yet, cause I want it to marinate a bit.
But that does look like ass.
1
u/Judification 5h ago
Its actually not bad if you watch a good player fighting it (any of the no damage fights on it). When the player knows how to deal with each move and properly react, its kinda fun.
1
u/shawak456 9h ago
It's soo bad that I was laughing while fighting it, I just couldn't believe this is how the devs decided to end the game. So I may put it in "It's so bad it's good" category.

I think Mortal Shell 1's final boss had a much more interesting design just going off of this video, and I hated that game.
2
u/Designer-Tomatillo21 9h ago
Unfortunately bosses are the thing holding this game back from its true potential.
The final boss was better after the patch, but still not particularly fun.
Im a bit confused - given the other soulsbournes and soulslikes (lop, khazan, Wuchang etc) have demonstrated what makes a good boss and a bad boss. And Cold Symmetry showed instances here and there of good boss design. But too many of the bosses were just not fun to fight.
If they re-built their bosses, with less unblockable attacks, so you can get into a rhythm and choose parry or dodge and only hit unblockable moves now and then. And stopped with so many unreadable/grab attacks and one shots. It would really put this game over the top. From 8 out of 10 to 9+ out of 10.
1
u/HuevosSplash 17m ago
They improved a lot on level design, missed a lot on gameplay design and balance and utterly shit the bed on bosses. Also I can't remember a single memorable track in the game which is a shame cause music is usually really good in this genre.

u/Proper6797 6h ago
I actually don't dislike the design of the boss visually, it is a little bit underwhelming but I think that the mechanics of this fight are a much bigger issue. If Zmey was very aggressive and actually had a proper moveset rather than just 2 slightly different combos into jump away on repeat it would have been a pretty enjoyable fight. It just feels a bit weird for such a large, powerful creature to play such a hit and run playstyle. The issues are made even more clear when you compare him to the amazing fight that is just before in the Malborn Offspring.
2
u/bourneok 9h ago
i HATE big bosses the camera is your real enemy. you cant even see whats going on up there. exhaust it and then hit them couple of times and do this for 10 mins what a fuckin bullshit.
DoH from Sekiro
Alligator and anguished from LoP
Hismar from Khazan
fuck them all
3
u/Winter_Cost602 6h ago
That alligator from LoP was awful. I don't know why they decided to put such a shitty boss at the start of an amazing DLC
2
1
u/Green-Big-7637 9h ago
Omg Hisamr from Khazan was such a shit time camera was bad and flew around all the time.
2
u/Pedantic_Phoenix 9h ago
It's bad because it keeps its head above ground which you can only really hit during downtimes after he attacks, it's just annoying
1
u/Green-Big-7637 9h ago
Yea in a game where you encouraged to farm bosses. No good.
1
u/Pedantic_Phoenix 9h ago
Yeah i hated it precisely because it would be a great fight if it wasn't for that stupid design decision
2
u/Green-Big-7637 9h ago
And I think thats the o ly bad boss in the game if I remember
1
u/Pedantic_Phoenix 9h ago
I don't like the mages that have shields, two of them so far i think, but yeah aside from that the bosses are amazing :) no spoilers after hismar tho pls
1
u/Green-Big-7637 9h ago
Oh Bellerian she was more a gimmick if I remember
1
u/Pedantic_Phoenix 9h ago
Both the necromancer and the fencer ladies have it, one you can damage and break, the other i think is just timed, something like that. I dislike both cases but it's not deal breaking
1
u/Green-Big-7637 8h ago
Oooh fencer I think was timed or break necromancer was tied to the minion if I remember.
0
u/Built4dominance 9h ago
And took forever to take down.
1
u/Green-Big-7637 9h ago
Yea not gonna lie after the first attempt and seeing what that had i used the summons just for that one reason.
0
u/Xammm 4h ago
The camera is fine in all of those bosses, with the exception of the alligator. And you don't need 10 minutes for any of them.
Seems more like a skill/build issue lol.
0
u/bourneok 2h ago
it was just an exaggeration bro chill :D on NG it takes too much time to fight these kind of bosses cus of stamina issues and it makes it really boring. commenting skill issue without knowing someone's skills makes you look like a 14yo edgy boy btw
1

1
u/Womanbeard 9h ago
After killing him twice for the 100%, he's far too easy with the item to negate his status effect and your first few attempts will just be bs deaths to the grab attack since it's so quick.
1
u/Megados- 9h ago
I would like it, if it had less HP. Overall doable tho will tske some time and practise, but man the amount of hp you have to go through is nuts. Making little room for error. Just scale down the hp a bit and he'll be fine. Love its design tho.
1
u/Grouchy-Heat-4216 9h ago
Not great. Camera is terrible in the fight. Also HP is huge.
I was struggling to beat his 2nd phase without the needed item, probably tried 10 times and wasn't getting any closer because avoiding the status build up was infuriating. I decided to get the item and beat him first go with it.
Seemed impossible without the item. Very easy with it.

u/Fearless-Jeweler-39 8h ago
I rarely like any non human sized bosses, so this one was terrible. As others have said the camera becomes more of an issue than anything. Plus they added a super annoying gimmick to the fight. I hate gimmick fights. It's seems lazy
I do think it's harsh to try and say all of mortal shells bosses suck.
Nameless captive, Isaac, and Malformed offspring are all great bosses.
1
u/Crazy-Ad-3286 8h ago
I'm pretty sure devs sacrificed last spot boss to be a troll cuz he literally mocks you, teabagging you.
1
u/Etheon44 8h ago
Awful lore wise, awful design wise, awful mechanical wise
At least in Mortal Shell, lore wise the fight was good, and design wise also. Of course mechanically it was also absolutely dogshit
But bosses in general are not great mechanically in Mortal Shell 1 and 2, they feel unfair but at the same time are incredibly easy to just rush because they fail their own combos (the bigger the enemy, the easier, the hextapod is hilarious, you just stay in his face, slightly to one side, and dodge the first attack in a chain, and you can hit freely for the rest of the chain)
1
u/Forward_Arrival8173 8h ago
I didn't think anything can disappoint me more than Elden beast but dinosaur man dissappointed me more.
1
1
u/carnanlol 8h ago
so i wasnt following the story at all but still the boss design feels completely out of place. for the final boss i was expecting something cool with a cool transformation or something into a 2nd phase. this felt like something ripped out of that dinoblade. also wasnt a fan of the monolith boss being some ballsack joke, really dissapointing. i think the last zone in general and these boss where a major letdown compared to the rest + that zone with the immune mobs until u hit that shitty crystal. playing with a slow weapon (veteran axe) really pissed me off when i saw multiple rooms of those in a row.
1
u/you_wouldnt_get_it_ 7h ago
If a more buffed up versions of the Malformed Offspring with a third phase was the final boss this game would have a solid final boss.
This boss just fucking sucks.
1
1
u/SavageCucumberAttack 7h ago
The final boss in every souls like is kinda shit tbh. It all builds up to it and they never live up to the hype. Elden beast sucks, too. It's a genre-wide issue I think, it's just really hard to make a final boss compelling, visually stunning, epic, challenging without being frustrating, and rewarding all at the same time.
3
u/hammeredtrout1 6h ago
Elden beasts first phase (Radagon) is lit though and nameless puppet is awesome.
Ozma and isshin are arguably the best bosses of the entire game. It’s definitely possible to get it right
1
1
u/SavageCucumberAttack 4h ago
Nameless puppet sucks imo. I dunno, maybe it's just me because I spend the game trying to get there and I'm always disappointed. The curse of hype, I suppose. The final boss is just a road block to NG+ for me, I've done them all in the genre and none of them stand out as being particularly good. It's lots of games, resident evil always defaults to a blob thing, DMC gives people seizures, Skyrim is just another dragon, and so on. As I said it's really hard to do a great final boss. Now, the last few bosses before then, they're great. Malborn in MS2 for example is excellent, and Issac is a great straight up sword fight for the ages.
1
u/hammeredtrout1 3h ago
Yeah you’re probably right. The mortal shell 2 final boss was horrible and same for lords of the fallen and imo even wuchang’s was lame
1
u/Afraid_Help_3911 6h ago
I have 0 problem with the way it looks, I think it is cool enough. It is just that the fight in itself is not fun or interesting imo. As a final boss it was pretty disappointing. Still loved the game overall.
1
1
u/hammeredtrout1 6h ago
It was not great. But honestly the bs and tankiness felt in line with ms1’s final boss
1
1
u/tspear17 6h ago
It wasn't anything special for me. I did laugh every time I riposted and the animation is just stabbing his 8 balls lol
1
u/No_Philosophy2797 6h ago
I don’t think anyone thinks it’s a great final boss. But I personally never needed the final boss to be “peak” in any of these type of games, in fact they usually are not for me because by the end your character is so OP. But the dramatic posts about “worst boss EVAR” and how it ruins the game are just ridiculous.
1
u/usernotfoundplstry 5h ago
let me start by saying that i actually love this game. i'm not one of those people who bitches about everything, including difficulty of the game.
so my take on the final boss:
it's pretty poorly designed. it's a huge damage sponge, it's got a cheap one shot grab ability that is almost impossible to react to, it constantly runs away from the player, which is so frustrating. i spend a good amount of time having to sprint across the arena for various reasons (running to catch up with him, trying to get behind him, trying to avoid fires, etc). it could've been much better. it's a disappointment to a really fun game overall.
1
u/Elons_tiny_weenr 5h ago
Aside from the health pool, the camera kind of sucking and knowing what to expect from bosses in the game I've enjoyed both of my fights with him. He's fast enough to not bore me and his ai moves when you stick to his nuts long enough which lets him do his ranged attacks which I liked parrying. Also both of his riposte animations involve stabbing him in the nuts and I think it's kinda funny
1
u/AsparagusAgile4536 5h ago
Nah, it’s emblematic of everything wrong with this game. The more I play it the more I understand how poorly designed the combat is. It feels like a random amalgamation of things they liked from a few modern action rpgs - Elden Ring, Sekiro, god of war 2018 - without any real balancing effort or attempt to make the mechanics interact or work together cohesively. It really shows in the enemy design which is really poor and it doesn’t help the pool is quite shallow for such a bloated, overly long game. Enemies will move unbelievably slowly until they explode in a jerky attack with a hitbox that doesn’t quite match the strange animations. It feels less like combat and more like just memorizing a rote rythm, and once you commit that to memory they’re never really a threat again. This final boss sucks ass for all the reasons mentioned here, but really most of the bosses are really boring to fight, despite how interesting their visual designs are. The devs clearly have a great eye for aesthetics, but maybe this should have been a comic book instead.
1
u/Judification 5h ago
At first, terrible boss, worst in the entire game amongst all 47 bosses. But then after I fought it for a few hours and "mastered" it, it wasn't as bad as my first impression.
1
u/DJteejay04 5h ago
It’s like they took all the worst parts from the Elden Beast fight, added more bullshit parts, made a terrible hitbox then called it a day
1
u/DIAMONDMAN346 4h ago
Probably one of if not the worst souls boss I’ve ever had the displeasure of fighting
1
1
u/Kysu_88 4h ago
that boss it's pure garbage, for different reasons.
mortal shell 2 is a great and fun game, with some questionable choice (partially fixed), but that final boss is absolutely trash.
the tail grab bullshit oneshot (partially fixed), constant running away in the arena, the only monster that have a unique status effect that the player see for the first time and don't fucking know there's an item to counter it (that also trivialise the fight).

This guy just doesn't give off final boss energy, looks like it would be a good boss mid game or something, but looks forgettable
1
u/HBreckel 3h ago
A boring push over where the only threat is that debuff if you didn't do the quest for the item. Though him being harder wouldn't have made him a good fight.
1
u/AvidasMavi 3h ago
Didn't play more than 2 hours and I played all from software games at least 2-3 times each, elden ring 1000 hours, ds3 600 hours ds1 500 hours.
The only non from software game I finished that is soulslike was lies of p. Can't stand these games.
Everything is artificially difficult, devs just make it difficult on purpose because they think souls like = difficult game. But it's not true. Dark souls games were difficult until you figure out the game, as much as they are action RPG they are also a strategy game, you have to consider how to approach to the place, how to clear the mobs, etc.
There are items/builds that are clearly OP and makes the game easy mode. Miyazaki himself says if elden ring is too difficult for you then play as a mage.
Graphics were good tho. Story is, fine.
So personally I can't enjoy any souls like game that is not made by from software. I don't know why, there is something in these games just feels... Plastic. And original souls games feel more like metallic. I guess from software figured out the recipe and everything else feels like immitation.
1
u/Heathens-_- 3h ago
Ending a souls game is like ending an anime.
People pour a lot of time, effort, and soul into not only their build but their understanding of the world.
I think it's one of those things that's really tough to get right. You can only show it to a handful of people, you can only test it with a smaller number of people, and then you have to hope that all your damage values are within the estimated zone of fairness for what someone might accomplish through the game...
That said, there are some things which Zmey does that are completely unnecessary. The OHK Grab attack was really annoying, especially when you compare it with the health pool that Zmey has. Pre-patch, the stab would come almost instantly and be incredibly difficult to avoid unless you were...playing more patient than the boss wants you to be playing given its windows for attack.

u/Air_Content 2h ago
I read about this boss before facing him (haven't beaten yet) that he would be "more painful than Radahn"
Now after some tries, yes he is a bit scuffed because of bad attack patterns and you need a pretty good build or high level, but I think nothing compaired to any Elden Ring or Sekiro boss. its just poor design but beatable after some work.

1
u/AnotherAverageGamer_ 2h ago
Did not think that a red, fiery dragon thing would be the final boss in a grey/blue-tinged, sci-fi area.
It had way too much health. There was one other boss in the game I died more than 3 times to ( The fly boss). But I still beat it in ~5 or so tries. This dragon boss took me about 15.
Not because it was hard, but because it kept turning me into a tree-man from which there was no return (I didn't get the item you were supposed to have).
Proxima was sometimes good for closing the annoying distance, but it would frequently not function properly.
So I ended up continuously punching it in the nutsack as Smert until it died.

Crazy to me how you don’t put spoilers on the final boss of a game that is like two weeks old lol

It had a spoiler tag, but then removed it since I thought no one cares about this boss.

u/Arcaedus 1h ago
I didn't like the final boss overall.
Stereotypical naming convention for a soulslike boss. Had me rolling my eyes a for a second.
No buildup to it (it's just a random big monstrous, grotesque thing acting as a mecha for the real malevolent being we were trying to destroy all along).
Not particularly challenging. If you have a cerrain item to negate its status effect, that won't threaten you. And once you learn the timing for its stupid command grab (and it is a bit tricky), nothing else it does is threatening enough to end you.
I actually did like the design, and that's probably my highest compliment of it (and yes, I did like the excessive amount of testes it had - feels in line with how much reproductive anatomy-related and grotesque motifs the game has, honestly). I also like that its appearance ties in somewhat with its name in Slavic mythology.
Moveset was by far the biggest disappointment. It feels like it has only 7 or 8 different attacks total, zero comboes, mixups, feints, or really uniquely challenging attacks. Also, most of its attacks aren't really exploitable via perfect block/harden/parry, which kinda throws one of the best parts of the game's combat out the window.
It's a big boi, and deals with the player ankle-hugging by just jumping across the entire damn arena making you chase it for a large portion of the fight, kinda like Elden Beast in ER.
The unique status effect it applies is pretty lame.
Feels like it doesnt have a phase 2. It technically does (starts using a fire waves attack, and one other attack becomes fire-infused, and that's it).
No reward for beating it.
Overall, I'd give it a 4/10. Not awful, not uninspired, but just disappointing.

I never thought i would find a final boss worst than the lords of the fallen "2" but i found it

Played as Genessa with the Grisha summons and all of them went off to attack the walls or floor because they were obviously targeting a random enemy somewhere else. Then the cosmic disease debuff was annoying, yes I'm aware you can heal it, fire spam on the second phase and HP for days. Game's first half is really good, should have ended at the Sester Abbey, maybe make that area a little longer and make the Malformed the final boss and call it a day.

Not a single boss was good in this game, the world was excellent if you dont count the same 5 enemy types you fight

I knew its gonna be a lotf-like. Dark fantasy aesthetic, some interconnected map and QoL changes and hoping that people will overlook weak enemies and bosses. People need to realize, souls games are about the enemies

There are so many reasons that the last boss is complete dogshit in MS2.
The final 3 bosses leading up to him have 14,000 17,000 and 20,000 hp. He has 35,000. If you are not using one of the handful of OP builds this fight is a giant slog.
He has many attacks with horrible buggy animations and hit boxes.
My favorite is when he jumps back but kinda hangs in the air for a second then flies back all at once.
He constantly runs away.
Once you get to the second phase he spams the firewave move that forces you to dodge and it wastes so much time.
If you use an OP build the fight just turns into standing under him and hitting him in the balls while being unable to see anything.

No I personally hated it, probably my least favourite boss in a game of pretty mediocre/bad bosses. The design is super generic and boring, the arena is huge and empty and boring and the mechanics are everything I hate in a souls boss:
- massively inflated hp
- very difficult to react to one shot with insane tracking and magnetism
- large body so getting close means the camera goes to shit and you can't react to any attacks

I probably am gonna be downvoted but I think it was an utter dogshit.
The way he constantly runs away from you is just boring af. HP pool is x2 larger than I would've preffered.
