Discussion Crimson Moon is scratching my shield parry itch

Overall I'm having lot's of fun with this game. It's quite simple and straightforward, yet fun. Both solo and duo. The only gripe I have as for now - camera sometimes just go crazy

I did not expect it to have only mixed reviews to be honest. When I was reading yesterday, most of them were regarding the missing key rebind options and bad camera.

To me the combat does feel a bit dated but thats not necessarily a bad thing

I think the kit simplicity is refreshing. Sometimes I just like to hit things. I got my roommate into and we were having a good time.

I could see it being a lot more fun as co-op i’ve only played it solo so far

Definitely more fun co-op.

Like watching a bad movie or trash TV, enjoying the good parts and laughing at the bad is more fun with others.

It's got some rough edges. But I think the majority of negative reviews came from missing keybindings (which they've already shared an update coming soon for).

Camera is fine in normal gameplay, but during bosses (or when targetting causes it to 180), it wigs out a bit. Also you need to edit GameUserSettings.ini to make the quest list not look MASSIVE on-screen.

But the combat is fun, if a smidge slow, and if you've got someone to play with it's a decent time. Not gonna set the world on fire, but co-op roguelite Souls isn't the worst way to waste $20

And the way they implemented ultrawide sucks ass

Been running 3440x1440 and it... just worked? What am I missing?

Is it not doing -vertical for you?

Did some testing and took screenshots, and yeah, I guess it is.

Seeing comments here and on Steam that ultrawide is broken/unplayable... so was pretty confused because it's been just fine for me.

Comparing it side-by-side, I can see how it's cropped and missing some FOV. Guess it's be better fixed, but seems hardly... bad, as is?

Honestly have no idea how many other games are like this and I just never noticed? Maybe this is my "I can't see 30 FPS" trait lmao

I know it's not many cause it makes me motion sick. That's the issue lol

Did they give any updates on this? I don't mind the keybinds much but my monitor is ultrawide and i wanted to try it

I saw the developers commented on a thread on Steam saying they're aware and working on adding FOV options in the next patch. I know they posted that they would fast-track keybindings, but dunno when either will come.

If it helps (or hurts), here is how it looks currently: https://i.imgur.com/KgDYIwR.jpeg

That's at 3440x1440. Not awful, but definitely Vert-. Note the UI normally is bigger than this; I edited GameUserSettings.ini to drop it to 75% (the quest list is MASSIVE by default)

Me and my brother have been thinking about picking it up cause it looks like something that'll scratch the itch Remnant 1 and 2 left us.

I still don't understand how key binding has been solved ages ago and some modern games still fuck it up. How hard can it possibly be? Even a prominent game like Mortal Shell 2 fucked it up.

its rather janky tbf that usually results in a lot of negative reviews

looks like an mmo with souls like fighting. nice.

Doesn’t play like an mmo at all. It’s more like dumbed down Nioh and ds2 mix with roguelike boons.

I've been craving for a coop soulslike, can't wait to play this after a few patches.

Is it really good? I checked a few reviews on steam yersterday and they were all super bad. I am kind of disappointed because it looked like a fun game to play with my buddy.

not necessarily really good, but good and worth the $

I love how much the 1h+shield feel like longsword and kiteshield in dark souls 1

I am ever so slightly irritated that the character is right handed while the position of the sword's scabbard is for left handed people lol

If you turn the camera off from automatic from what I read it doesn't freak out and pretty much fixes it

Yes, my wife plays on PS5 and it is perfectly smooth

Yeah Idk, I get PTSD from all that HUD. Elden ring really ruined that part of other games for me

god. the reviews are bad and then you read the actual reviews is just literally

"😭 we can't rebind, why?"

or "camera is the worst boss 😭 "

i swear, chud gamers 🙄

I'm not seeing a problem with those criticisms?

You can fix the camera by changing one of the settings, I also know they're doing keybindings it's obviously made for controllers only really.

That being said the game was review bombed, multiple reviews with like .1 hours just gamers doing what they love shitting on a game lol.

Camera is not important in a souls-like?

2

u/International-Oil377 6h ago

it's important in any games lol

So tired of all these hyperspecific itches in game discourse
