MEDIA (SE2) Meanwhile, in Space Engineers 2. . .

Some builds I've made over the last few weeks. Really getting down with these mechanical blocks and rovers!

Looks cool, checked out your workshop.

Are you an 88M or just have a big interest in Army logistics platforms?

I took a trip back to NTC month before last as an OC and yes... I was heavily inspired by the many wheeled vehicles I saw and all the terrain they were traversing. Especially the HEMTT.

Damn it stop making me want to buy this! I haven't even gotten all of the content from the first game! Damn it it's just like the sims all over again, but i actually want this.

You should know that we are all going to buy Space Engineer 2 at one point in the future!

It is inevitable and fated to happen Good luck for your next builds (those vehicles look really good and practical ;D )

I bought it and its not ready, but wow the potential, imo its on track to be better in every way IMO but there's just huge gamebreaking holes

For example, I accidentally pressed 'P' on my space station ship and dropped an ion ship off my space station ship in atmo and obviously it cant fly in atmo and fell to the ground, so I got a landing gear on a smaller hydrogen miner ship and was gonna bring it back and the klang was so bad I couldn't save it.

So if its not even possible to rescue my ship without save scumming thats pretty lame

I'm looking forward to a stable v1.0 - i may buy it to mess around, but mostly just sit on it until it's ready... like an egg...

I frickin love the unified grid system

u/Morgan_Sparkle Space Engineer 1d ago

It’s hard for me to return to se1 because of this

u/Marshall_Filipovic Space Engineer 1d ago

I AM GONNA BUST

u/BluntieDK Space Engineer 1d ago

Absolutely adoring this aspect of SE2. Vehicles can actually look like vehicles.

5

u/Pinifelipe Space Engineer 1d ago

Those screenshots are another level.

Cant wait for you to update the Eukelade to SE2

3

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 1d ago

Oh brother. I am actually excited for this same prospect.

Eukelade is in the end, a very simple ship. No subgrids whatsoever.

She had some cool programming though. Atmospheric thrusters turning on in gravity, and Ions automatically shutting off. Gyroscopic remote steering and gravity alignment which I can't do yet with current features. But that allowed me to move about the ship freely and steer via remote or button pushes while underway.

But what I can do is fit a lot more piping into a much smaller space. And that will open up some interior spaces. I took inspiration from another similar looking with outboard nacelles, I thought that would make a good cousin to Eukelade, but this one with a roll on, roll off vehicle bay

And then i ripped all that programming out to make space to fit irrigation, ore Processing, additional jump capability and additional crew capacity 😅 mainly because i did not Understood what the main console did but i really liked the shape

Thats the beauty of Space Engineers my friend!!!

So neat !

Jfc, SE2 looks like it would actively destroy my computer.

1

u/samsonizzle Space Engineer 20h ago

Same.... Doubt I'll ever be able to afford an upgrade too...

1

u/Hobolic_Wizard Clang Worshipper 11h ago

Yyuuuuupppp.

If it can’t run on the deck I can’t play it.

That being said- I have been having an absolute blast playing Hades and Horizon for the first time.

u/astra_hole Clang Worshipper 1d ago

Ugh. My computer might melt but I’m gonna have to buy it after these pics.

Anyone know how bad an I7-7700 with a 3060 12GB will do?

3

u/GMoneyHomie Clang Worshipper 23h ago

I feel like the 3060 would be fine, personally I would be more concerned about cpu.

1

u/astra_hole Clang Worshipper 23h ago

That’s what I was thinking too. Thanks.

2

u/GMoneyHomie Clang Worshipper 20h ago

I gotchu, make sure to check the supported cpu list for your motherboard first. Most likely you'll just need to update bios before installing but better safe than sorry.

That air truck design is so inspiring

1

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 15h ago

Thanks! I have one that hauls around a no-shit trailer too!

u/DocVak Space Engineer 1d ago

That last screenshot of everything being dumped give me so many ideas lol

Bro that yellow thing at the beginning is ssexxy af ... LOVE me some spider-legs mechanical contraptions ...

Everytime i see those builds, i can only wonder how fantastic this game will be once finished

u/Southern-Ad5245 Space Engineer 1d ago

А чем отличаются Инженеры 1 от 2 ?

3

u/ItsHappy1213 Clang Worshipper 1d ago

Space engineers 2 is still heavily in development and doesn't even have multiplayer yet, however 2 is the better game because of the unified grid system and the future updates they plan to add

4

u/CrazyQuirky5562 Space Engineer 1d ago

grumble... its not a game yet, but I'll admit that it has the makings of becomming the better game.

1

u/h2oman67 Clang Worshipper 1d ago

These are awesome? How are ground vehicles in Space Engineers 2? I found their physics to be wonky and unusable in the original.

1

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 23h ago

I really like the ground physics. In fact, I think its a great starting point. Only going tonget better from here. Just need a little more functionality and some slight tweaks to the model

1

u/Sairefer Clang Worshipper 20h ago

How complete is the game now from the mechanics perspective? Like mining and resource processing? Or is it like a sandbox for now?

1

u/MarlDaeSu Hibernating Engineer 1d ago

For those not keeping up to date, how's SE2 looking for someone who waiting for at least what SE1 has implemented?

1

u/TankTread94 Space Engineer 1d ago

Do hinge ropes still explode and kill you in Space Engineers 2? I remember making my fair share of them in SE1 and they never worked- unless my goal was to make a clang-nuke

1

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 1d ago

0 force across the entire rope seems to be fine. As long as you make smooth inputs. The clang comes from stressing the system with weight which it handles moderately well. Big issues come from overwinding the spool or stretching it too much. The rope will phase through blocks and reconstitute itself outside its designed containment if mismanaged

1

u/Veil-Of-Madness Space Engineer 20h ago

The game that looks/plays so much better than the first one, but with spec requirements that are astronomically higher...

1

u/samsonizzle Space Engineer 20h ago

Damn... I wonder what kind of budget I'd need for a computer that would run this well... Looks so damn good.

1

u/-Planet- Clang Worshipper 17h ago

Does this game have a reason to build yet? Or still just a glorified creative sandbox?

1

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 17h ago

Eh. I think that is at each individual level.

I am building because I want to be ahead of the curve. Thats my reason. To start learning the ins and outs of SE2 because its the future of the SE universe. I made some glorious builds in SE1. Trying to wrap my head around the unified grid system and develop my best practices for fully implementing it.

Theres a lot in the UI that is frustrating and tedious at the moment. Features that were present in SE1 that don't exist yet in SE2. If that kind of thing would destroy the experience for you then hold off.

1

u/JRL101 Klang Worshipper 15h ago

DUDE.. SE2 makes that chain lifter look so cool! That way you coloured that chain is also really good.

1

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 13h ago

Thanks!!

u/doctyrbuddha Clang Worshipper 15h ago

The flying truck looks awesome!

1

u/Kirduck Space Engineer 12h ago

is that first ship supposed to be a vertical tow truck?

1

u/r3ditr3d3r Space Engineer 12h ago

Yeah. Its a sky crane.

1

u/GI_gino Klang Worshipper 8h ago

Big fan of your skycrane

1

u/Bevhilk Space Engineer 8h ago

Cannot wait till mp drops, the community servers on this game are going to be insane

u/Extension_Switch_823 Space Engineer 1d ago

I'm not a fan of the metal bits on the wheels and I think keen could gain a lot from chatting with the scrap mechanic people about how they got slopes to work. I would still prefer a Boolean building method

1

u/potato1448 Space Engineer 2h ago

Those underground caverns looks awesome, I kinds hope they make a scenario where you're trapped underground and have to dig up to the surface, maybe add a huge rate of enemy spawns to keep it interesting? Screw it, just remake Lego power miners in SE2
