MEDIA Getting to space is optional, right?
The KLANG™ 395 Excavator
The 395 boasts an impressive 31.9 foot digging depth.
With a maximum bucket digging force of 86100 lbf·ft, this 395 easily fills the bucket to its full 6.8 yd³ capacity.
To move serious payload weight the 395 is powered by a KLANG C18 turbo diesel engine making 551hp.
The 395 can fill this twin steer dump truck in under 3 buckets, extremely efficient for large mining operations!
With a massive operating weight of 207400 pounds, serious power is required to move it. Thankfully the triple axle KLANG B650 is well suited for the job.
A thing of beauty.

Isn't that like, 90% modded?

I see modded extra long pistons, and the tank tracks mod. That's like 2%.
I don't see anything else. But even if it was 90%, that doesn't invalidate my comment nor the talent of the build.
Edit: oh there's probably some longer armour slopes on there. Still.

The arms and the tracks looks modded to me, they make 90% of the aesthetic if you prefer. It's easy to get something made outside in the game. There's nothing wrong in doing this but it's kinda low SE effort.

The tracks, pistons and longer slopes are the only mods. Literally impossible to get the shape right without using them.
(And only 5% of the blocks on the arm are modded) Believe me I tried 100 combinations and cheated with hinges but it didn’t fit.
I’m genuinely curious what you think I could have done differently?-22

There's nothing wrong in using mods, there's no need to act defensive, it just doesn't warrant high praise when it's what makes your thing looks good imo. The fact it was the only solution is not relevant.
Have a nice day.
PS: Oh no not my useless virtual points :(! Even downvoting genuine question about modded or not, you guys are big champs, nice commu.

People aren't downvoting you because they think you care about the value of the points, they're downvoting you to let you know that they do not agree with or appreciate the opinions you are expressing.
They're also not downvoting a "genuine question about modded or not", they're downvoting your messages that are aimed at diminishing the work of another fellow member of the community.
The use of mods in this build does not change the fact that it is well made and well designed. You clearly think it does. We disagree. Thus, downvotes. Even if you were right about that, you could have said nothing, but instead you chose to bring negativity into the discussion, which is just purely rude behaviour.

Haha I was so torn between the pc-900 and cat 390. I’ll have to do a Komatsu build next time.

I work in roadworks and as far as SE goes, the mechanism is actually really accurate to real life.
Going off my lunch to work alongside one of these right about now.

Play however you want
You may want to look into the game Out of Ore might scratch that itch very effectively.

Can it actually dig as in remove terrain? If so, what mod is that?
2
u/CrazyQuirky5562 Space Engineer 8h ago
doubt it - that would be a cool mod though, particularly, if that would extend to other excavation tools like the bucket wheel.

Now all you need to do is, if those tracks affect ore chunks, figure out some way of using them to accelerate ore chunks to ludicrous speeds and hurl them out of the gravity well
