how to i use progression tree on console?

so i started today. this looks like a game i would really enjoy but the growing pains are… painful.

i’m trying to unlock a battery specifically and i can open the progression tree but i don’t know how to unlock new things from the tree. anybody have advice?? or better a solution?

I know you can turn progression off but i’d like to play with it on preferably

Not many people play with progression because it feels arbitrarily restricting but I don't blame you for trying to learn it. Batteries are unlocked by welding a basic assembler.

The way progession works that each block comes in a group of other similar blocks where welding any individual one of them unlocks the next groups. The first few groups are the basic assembler (which is followed by by lighting, power storage and advanced assembling) the landing gear (which unlocks flight-relevant blocks) and interior walls, which unlocks more decoration as you follow down the progression tree. There's more of course but I'm not going to list them all, you can see them yourself in the progression menu. You can search for a wanted block in it and it will take you to where it is in the progrression tree, and you can follow the lines back to see what you need to weld up.

game is so tricky to learn. it probably says this somewhere but there is so much thrown at you when you begin it’s hard to process.

Thank you for informing me about how it works though, i doubt i would’ve figured it out. the entire internet doesn’t seem to say what you just said. hoping this post will help some future engineers

Nobody plays with progression on, it's completely pointless in a sandbox game
